I wonder if their message boards go back and forth about miles recruits and gundy recruits like ours do with saban and miles.

The golf coach is hunting quail at T. Boone Pickens ranch and then becomes the athletic director. The golf coach? Tell me that Pickens does not run the show at Oklahoma State. I see sanctions down the road, no different with the Oregon program and the Nike CEO

As for Coach Miles, the article proves to me he had class before he got to LSU, still has class at LSU and will have class a long time after his tenure at LSU is over.

"I am preparing to play in a bowl game," Miles told the Tulsa World three days before the Cowboys faced Ohio State in the 2004 Alamo Bowl. "I want no distractions for my football team. I'm not looking around."

And this all could have been true. He didn't solicit LSU and had we not come calling he might still be at OSU.

Sounds like a lot of buthurt, surprisingly from Gundy whom I've always liked. His explanation on why he wouldn't let Miles say goodbye was a pile of lame BS. We were in the middle of recruiting? What does that have to do with the kids currently in the locker room? You'd think the guy would be happy that Miles is leaving since he was given the gig.

It would not surprise me if it was not Pickens decision that Coach Miles not be allowed to address the team

They were pissed because he was leaving. They knew they had a pretty good coach and didn't want to let him go.

This is pretty common, I think. Cincy wouldn't let Brian Kelley attend the football banquet last year after he accepted the Notre Dame job.

Ive never heard of an instance where the coach is not allowed to address his team. Maybe that happens more than I know but Ive never heard of it.

I see it as the players deserve that coach to face them and tell them he's moving on. I know they wont like it or will feel abandoned but the players have earned that right.

Happened to a buddy of mine when Mack Brown left Tulane. I was at the I-bowl with my friends family for Tulane's bowl game and the rumors swirled. My friends crazy mom approached Brown at the dinner the night before and was ripping him a new one right there, fricking hilarious.

I seriously doubt Pickens would make that decision. Bottom line is Miles bailed on those kids and it hurt peoples feelings.....its not the first time it has happened and it won't be the last.

Wasn't that long ago, that LSU hadn't done that in a long long time either

I just don't see it that way. He left for a better gig. And if there was tension between himself and the administration/Pickens, then he would have been a fool to stay.

The fact that they got rolled by the buckeyes gives them a platform for grievances. I suppose they would have rather he pulled a Brian Kelley and left before the bowl game.

There's really no comparison of these two programs; OSU historically has barely won 50% of their games and has been, and will alway be, second fiddle to the Sooners. It wasn't until T. Boone started throwing money at OSU's A.D. that they started consistently winning football games. I'm sure it won't be long before the NCAA starts sniffing around Stillwater.

Yeah! I bet it's unusual for coaches to play golf with big boosters of university athletic programs.

So when a coach recruits a kid to come play for him and the next year he takes a better offer that is not considered bailing on him and his teamates? I am sure that some recruits go to a school specifically b/c of the head coach....not all but some. Imagine if you picked a school b/c of the head coach and the next year he left. Most coaches will follow the money and there is nothing wrong with it but those kids he leaves will likely be pretty po'd.
