Let me start by saying I don't believe that refs are actively/consciously working against any team.

After this year's Bama vs LSU game I read so many fans saying how the refs actively work against, LSU. To all those who truly believe that please read this article (all the way to the end).

quote:

Some of the study’s conclusions defy more-cynical views. For instance, teams favored by Vegas tended to get significantly more discretionary calls against them than underdogs. Ref-baiters might be distressed to learn that the SEC—winners of eight of the last 10 national titles—appears to have the least biased officials.

Ultimately, I agree that refs should be overseen by an independent national body, but let's not, as LSU fans, keep blaming officiating for poor play calling and coaching.

SIAP

Do College refs have it in for your team?

Eta: to all those people upset by this post here are other articles about Bama and SEC officiating.

SEC refs favor Alabama?

So what's their excuse for the 3 missed holding calls on Jalen Hurts touchdown run? Was that just bad play calling too? Some of you people are morons

It's a missed call. If you took the time to read the article and my post i said "actively/consciously" working against LSU. The bad play calling was from us putting up zero points on offense and very little yardage.

Its interesting that one team seems to more times than not be on the beneficial side of these missed calls.

No one thinks they are actually cheating. We just want them to be better. I can consistently see the same missed calls throughout every game I watch. There are holes in the rules of the game that also need to be corrected.

Do you have any evidence to prove this. Could you provide me with every missed call in favor of Bama vs every other SEC team? Conspiracy theory is fine, but i just like to look at the situation based on unbiased data.

For the record: i despise Bama. I hope we go there and kick their as with Canada running the offense. That's where i feel our biggest problem was. It wasn't the refs. It was the poor play calling and offense we had throughout the years. We can hardly ever compete with Bama's linemen, for 4 quarters, yet Les would try and do it almost every year. I think Canada should provide us with a fresh take on beating Bama.

I gave you an upvote because how I do believe the refs missed the call, every game will have blown calls on every level of football, highschool-pros. The refs are human and if there was any bit of doubt that refs were throwing games then they would have been busted already.

The wide receiver's hold on our corner back was out there for all to see. Don't see how all 3 were missed.

You mean every college football game, LSU game, or Bama vs LSU game? Would you expound upon that a little more.

Which ones would you like to be corrected? I'm not saying their should or shouldn't be changes. I'm just interested in what changes people would like.

I have wondered if replay of calls in game has impacted how they call a game. If I miss it replay will make it right...on some things, obviously.

You are a fool if you don't think bama gets critical calls or (non-calls) with the game on the line...I've watched it over and over through the years...and I'm not saying it is targeted against Lsu. It happens with bama against all schools. Just so happens Lsu and bama are generally close games.

There are plenty of reasons call can be missed from refs not being in position to see the foul to not calling something due to it being questionable.

Again, if we're using one play of one game or several plays in several games it doesn't tell us that refs are consciously bias.

I think it's important to note that when your team loses a game and there was a bad or missed call that will stick out in a person's head. But what about the games where your team wins? How many of those calls do you remember that were in your favor this time?

My point is it's easy to look at a small subset of data and make a broad generalization (refs cheat for bama) to justify your team losing to another team consistently, but it doesn't make your conclusion accurate.

Aren't you the guy who said Tom Herman had already signed a binding contract with LSU 2 months before he actually signed with UT? Then you went on to call me a fool for not believing you because a person with "real sources" (implying you were) keeps their mouth shut about this stuff.

So maybe you understand why i would be hesitant to believe anything you say you have "seen with your own eyes".

Additionally, can you provide me with evidence that these calls or non calls happen more for Bama than every other SEC team over say a 5 or 10 year period? Has any research been done on this?

Imo, i would say it has for sure. Like you said sometimes replay can't even get it right though. I would be interested in reading a study on this. Might have to see if there has been one done. Send me a link if you have one.

I'm fairly certain, as of now, i don't have a single upvote, but i didnt expect to have any anyway.

The section of our fan base i was reaching out to won't care about data, facts, and unbiased studies.

Some will want to use this as evidence. It's the missed calls in critical situations like PP7's non-int THAT WAS REVIEWED WITH THE ANNOUNCERS AGREEING IT WAS AN INT. Or the hold on the JJ touchdown with blocks in the back on the same TD play. The non hiding calls that are consistently missed. Some THINK it is acceptable to allow a lineman wrap his arm around while the lineman passes by and it is acceptable to take him down. Saw it SEVERAL TIMES the last game with the Bama. These are the non calls that have fans angry. It's bull shite.
