We all know how good LSU's offense was in 2013 with the Mett, Hill, Landry and Odell show. But let's not forget that all those guys were starters the year before that.

In 2012 Mettenberger played his first season as a fulltime starter. He threw for 2,609 yards. 12 tds and 7 interceptions. Not Great numbers persay.

Landry and Odell combined for 1,286 recieving yards and 7 tds.

Let's compare those stats to Harris, Dural, and Dupre.

Harris first year as a fulltime starter and he threw for 2,165 yards, 13 tds, and 6 interceptions. Very similar to Mettenbergers 2012 total.

Harris' two weapons of choice, Dural and Dupre combined for 1,231 yards and 9 tds. Eerily similar to OBJ and Landry 2012 totals.

So...we all know what another year of maturity and off-season chemistry did for Mett, Landry, and Odell. Maybe we will see similar results next year with Harris, Dupre and Dural.

Bro our offense next year will actually have a large portion of juniors on it. We'll be explosive and deadly. Don't let these posters fool you. Youth had a lot to do with the last two years (and QB didn't help) next year we will be deadly. We will be efficient.

We will have atleast a 2500 passer a 1500 RB and ATLEAST a 1000 yard receiver. Plus a top 10 D. All the negas will be mad i promise.

Hope you right, really all we need is for Harris to be more consistent getting to ball to playmakers. Because our defense will be loaded. We need the right playcalling at the right times on offense as well.

It's not just a comparison to 2012....

quote:

Brandon Harris (2015)...... 148/276 53.6% 2158 yards 7.8 ypa 17 TD (4 rush) 6 INT
Jamarcus Russell (2005).... 188/311 60.5% 2443 yards 7.9 ypa 17 TD (2 rush) 9 INT
Zach Mettenberger (2012). 207/352 58.8% 2609 yards 7.2 ypa 12 TD 7 INT
Matt Mauck (2002)................ 63/130 48.5% 782 yards 6.0 ypa 11 TD (2 rush) 2 INT
Josh Booty (2000).............. 145/290 50.0% 2121 yards 7.3 ypa 17 TD 15 INT
Herb Tyler (1996).............. 109/188 58.0% 1688 yards 9.0 ypa 14 TD (7 rush) 8 INT
Jamie Howard (1993)......... 106/248 42.7% 1319 yards 5.3 ypa 7 TD 12 INT
Tommy Hodson (1987)...... 162/265 61.1% 2125 yards 8.0 ypa 15 TD 9 INT

1988, 1997, 2001, 2003, 2006, 2013.... it's a pretty good indicator.

ETA: Not 2001

I believe that the addition of Cam Cameron is why Mett & the rest of the offense improved in 2013.

Obligatory apology for a fat-fingered down vote on such a beautiful post.

Added excitement Bc unlike 2012 to 2013 our defense won't be decimated. In fact, it should be much improved.

I wish we had a Mettenberger type QB in 2016.

We can't win with the JJ clone.
