Maybe we should be talking about recruiting. LSU had 1 position player taken in the first 29 rounds of the draft. Every other top SEC team had 3-5. Even Stony brook had more talent on the field than LSU. Three years removed from a NC that is pretty bad.

Maybe we should talk about how Javi is partly responsible for that too in case you didn't notice.

They're gonna blame that on Grewe.

There's a story which said the reason why the Red Sox threw 600K to sign Lucas LeBlanc was that Grewe was such a dick when they asked for film on Ranaudo he pissed them off and they decided to spend that money out of spite.

But since the hitting coach and the recruiting coordinator are the same guy I'm not crazy about Mainieri's argument. If we don't have kids who can be taught to hit, why not? It isn't hard to find quality players interested in playing for LSU.

But more than that, we don't have anybody on the team who didn't have some excellent credentials coming in here. Alex Edward was a Louisville Slugger All-American when we signed him; Fields was a 25th round pick. And so on.

I agree but the problem has to be fixed because after football season we will have to watch a poor hitting baseball team again.... I really think PM is going to lose his job over his BBQ buddy!!!!!!!!!!!

I just want to see some big guys. Small and scrappy is great, but not when it describes 80% of your team. Our tiny stature coach is recruiting players that are similar to each other.

Also, our hitting coach is a major issue. He's an imposter that seems to do every part of his job completely wrong.

Do your homework before starting a thread like this.

I do agree there are issues with the hitters. We've got too many guys with warning track power and uppercut swings. Rhymes, he could adjust his approach to hit for more power. So what if your average drops 100 points. I'll take a .300 hitter who hits a lot more doubles and HR's. But we need a few more athletes as well. Why keep a guy 4 years if he can't hit homers and has no speed?

Take a look at Javi's bio from LSUpsorts.net:

Playing Career
2001-04 Notre Dame
2004-07 Minnesota Twins affiliates

Coaching Career
2009- LSU (assistant coach)
2008 LSU (volunteer coach)

The guy played 4 years of college ball, 4 years in the minors, was a volunteer coach for 1 year then is named hitting coach/head recruiter at one of the best baseball programs in the country.

He has not recruited quality hitters, has not developed any of the players he has recruited into quality hitters, and he sucks as a 3rd base coach.

Important or not this guy needs to go. If CPM keeps playing this good ole boy shite his arse is going to be gone also.

Anyone remember Lou Tepper and Gerry D!!!

Yes...because a Major League team is going to piss away money just to spite a college baseball assistant.

Do you actually believe any of the shite you post on here?

omg you are sounding like my managers! :pullshairout:
coaching is an on-going development
there is no such thing as a group of talented individuals who can function as one unit without leadership. Managers can't recruit well enough that they no longer have the responsibility to manage. That lack of talent is a lazy manager's cop out.
