In the last 10 years only 4 CWS champions won their conference.

I think I am correct in saying this:

Rice 2003
cal state fullerton 2004
Oregon State 2006
LSU 2009

Somewhat interesting maybe? Other question as the pac 12 does not have a conference tournament, which hold more weight in your eyes, the regular season champ or the tourney champ?

Just making conversation in the dead sports time...

South Carolina won the SEC in 2011 (3 way tie).

True enough, I guess I gave the nod to Florida as they also won the tourney championship.

Playoff settings just determine who is hot at that particular time.

Correct, but don't let LSULyle see this or he'll start another thread talking about how UCLA is without a doubt the greatest team ever.

At least it felt like LSU earned it in 2009
I don't get the same feeling after watching this year's UCLA team. I think the UCLA pitching was good but not as good of a staff as others the past few years. Gray was better than any pitcher I saw in Omaha. Even a pitcher like Nola would have given up some bombs at Rosenblatt.

The regular season championship means more , by far. Any team , even a crappy team, can get hot for a 4-5 game stretch during a tourney.

UCLA starters combined to pitch 34 innings, giving up 21 hits, five walks and only three earned runs. In support, the defense made only three errors.

Pitching and defense ruled this CWS and UCLA was tops in both with a team ERA of 0.80.

5-0 as an undefeated CWS champ and beat the runner-up by a combined score of 11-1.

I don't know how anyone can say with a straight face that UCLA didn't earn it.
