Film shows that Bama would see the single wide I formation and Eddie Jackson would run towards the LOS at the snap. They were basically bringing in a 9th defender in when LSU was in an obvious running formation.

The few times we tried passing out of a running formation, it worked. Well, at least it should have worked. Either way, we never got them off balance and backing off. We never successfully threw the ball, except on those 2 series (really the FG series). We never went back to it

Our playcalling is not imaginative, and we are very predictable in certain sets. Saban is a master of playing tendencies and has eaten us up 5 times in a row now. We haven't scored 20 points vs Bama in a long time. Even when we've won, we still haven't scored.

Look at the stats from last night. Could it get any worse?

I'm sorry coach. I didn't think that it might be a good idea to ignore what has been working to just start doing some thing totally new that our personnel have any experience, or confidence in for one game. No reason to have confidence in your players is it? Tell them that you think that they are shite and every thing that they have been doing (very well) is crappy NO matter that they have been winning games doing those things, it is garbage and now we have to totally do something new.

Is that how you have won so many championships?

With all due respect, sir, you are an idiot.

Balance is so, so important when all else is equal in football. It's why you hear that word so much especially in regards to the NFL.

Even getting the linebackers flowing from side to side can make the difference in a half-second that allows your guards to get leverage.

The fact that Bama's safeties were meeting Fournette at the LOS shows they did not respect anything other than us running the football. The fact that Bama's D-linemen were blowing up an offensive line that does not have a dearth of talent shows they didn't respect much of anything going outside the box.

Let's continue to run up the middle even though what OP said is true.

Put him in the slot vs a safety or corner or better one of those big linebackers.

Just draw that play in the dirt like you do on the playground? Great idea coach.

We couldn't get wide either. We tried a couple of times, think it led to losses. Fournette's fast on the second level, but not blinding to the corner.

It's possible that Harris could have run more and have been effective, but he also was getting drilled and could have been hurt. THAT would have been a disaster for the rest of the season.

They tried a couple of passes to Fournette but the timing was off. The play calling was iffy, but it is what it is. The O line was getting dominated, so like announcers often say, you have to stick with the run to keep the pass rush honest. Harris was 6-19, he wasn't on. Incomplete on 1st down means almost certain pass on 2nd, and that line tees off on him. So, Fournette into line a bunch of times, made the play-action a little better.

Deep vs short passes- We weren't looking at any 10 play drives, I'm pretty sure the staff figured that out early. Best chance was longer passes, get yards in a chunk. It worked for a couple of drives. I think had they gone short instead, the likely result was more punts, or maybe more INTs.

Rarely do we throw nice short, fast passes. It's bomb or nothing. Minus the fake field goal against Florida... the "Mad Hatter" hasn't 'Mad Hatted' in a long time.

It was time to throw out the entire spring practice, pre season practice and all the games this fall and all of the plays and blocking angles that the team has been working on for months and junk it and install an entirely new offense. No way anything bad would happen with that is there?

Dude, when Moore went down against South Carolina, we completely changed our philosophy until we had a comfortable lead. We went from I formation to empty back with Fournette and Guice lining up as WRs. Harris ended up throwing it 28 times in that game and I think around 13-15 passes in the second quarter alone.

So yes we could have changed up our philosophy. Miss St started trying to run on us and develop longer passing plays, but when they realized they couldn't go anywhere because of our pressure, they started going 4 and 5 wide, 3 step drop and release. Quick passes to dink and dunk it down the field. Almost came back and won too.

On our field goal drive we ran the ball on second down it was blocked up front very well (probably the only one) but mouton decides to pick up a line backer that had no shot at lf he came between pocic and tehuma if he picks the wide hole that's a TD guaranteed. Same play as the toss against msu

Very few if any were short passes, slants or screens. Coaches don't trust BH to execute. He needs to learn to execute those type of passes or the long term solution is recruit a QB who can. Miles' worst weakness is actually giving up on the pass to early and not have any patience after any miscue.
