That was my original post. Later on, I clarified that Sgt. Stone has already said that one player may get 2nd degree battery. If in fact you see that charge, JJs name will be beside it. But I don't know if you'll ever hear that charge.

and if JJ is out for Oregon I hope Lee and Mett are splitting the first team snaps because we will be in for a long night with Lee in the game

By refusing to attempt to question the suspects the next day abd even 3 days later, the BRPD have made it clear that they don't want to press charges.

anyone who thinks felony charges will result from this is a fool.

even a misdemeanor charge will probably get them with at least a couple game suspension.

Oh and remember to plead down...you have to recant. Which would mean someone was lying...not good.

Considering they haven't spoken to police yet, I doubt any of the players lied to them already. A plea can be agreed to before admitting actual guilt. Especially if they think it would be hard convicting the players on more serious charges.

You can believe me or not, but I spoke with a players gf, and I this player would be one of the ones that would hear something from the coaches.

So what does Miles do if he sits JJ first 2 games and then Lee or Mett plays good.

I think we should not discount the likelihood that none of the players face criminal consequences because none of the players were actually involved in a crime. The amount of credibility accorded to police reports by the general public continues to astound me. You have a huge crowd of pissed off, drunk and confused teenagers/20-somethings, all yelling and trying to tell "their story", and a few cops trying to write down everyone's version at once while their priorities are:

1) protect any victims who might be injured,
2) protect the crowd from each other,
3) protect themselves,
4) disperse the crowd without further violence, and finally

.
.
.

5) investigate what actually occurred

The investigation is a distant last place on their priority list on the scene. They have so many and so much more important things to worry about, there is essentially zero effort put into vetting, verifying or even questioning any particular "witnesses" account. They're just writing down what everyone says at the moment, with hardly any regard to the credibility of the source.

I have personally witnessed a police report on a fight recording that four witnesses identified a guy as the culprit, when that guy was in fact sitting in a bar (next to me) two blocks away when the fight happened and all four witnesses (as they confirmed again in court) attempted to explain to the officer that they were identifying was an entirely different guy in "a green shirt and white hat." But the cop had looked up, seen a guy in a green shirt and white hat, and was not interested in listening to anything else.

We don't know jack at this point. None of us, not even the people who were there (much less the dozens of posters who will surely claim to have "been there"). It is sad (though in our society -- and among the lowlifes frequenting this board especially -- inevitable) how quickly and with such certainty we condemn the accused, when we are already conditioned to assume they are guilty.

As far as predicting how it plays out, that's sheer folly unless you are Nathan Fisher or the DA. No one else has nearly enough information about the case to make even a vague estimation. Lots of people thought Ray Lewis was going to jail forever and that Plaxico would be back on the field as quickly as his leg could heal. None of us really knows anything (and probably never will really know).

Elleshoe your post count is too high for you to make such a dense comment. Lee led us to several victories last year including florida and tennessee. He also got training from kragthorpe all year, so I'm willing to bet he has improved as well. You wont see mett until halftime IF we need him.

The players should not had been out at that time of night. the team captains that were envolved were just plain stupid. They should have shown leadership. As a coach I would run them through the mill.

Dude, Jefferson says he wasn't even there

quote:

Jefferson's father, John Jefferson, said it "would really, really surprise me," if his son was involved. "He's not like that," John Jefferson said. "He doesn't go out very much, and he doesn't drink."

John Jefferson said he was first alerted to the matter this morning when LSU Coach Les Miles' office called because it could not reach Jordan by phone. Jefferson called Jordan, who was sleeping but returned the call 30 minutes later, John Jefferson said.

"He said he didn't know anything about a fight," John Jefferson said. "He told me 'I've been here four years, and I know it ain't worth it. When I see something going down, I leave. I have too much to lose for that.' "

LSU football players getting into fights around town isn't exactly a new thing.

But if any of them are charged with assault- they should go. Nobody should be above the law.

And then there's the issue of JJ being there in the first damn place. Breaking curfew- which means violating team rules and the trust Les Miles has put in him? Two weeks before a top 5 matchup that begins his Senior season??? Is that an example of good leadership & judgement? So much for that.....

You haven't seen him play since last year. People develop, and his mechanics weren't as much of the problem as his poise and pocket presence. Do you not remember the 4th and long vs bama. The kid made some special throws last year. He will be fine for the UO game. People keep acting like we aren't going to run our RBs down UO throat all night. All Lee has to do is minimize mistakes and we win.

Did this info come from the GF (that we would s*** ourselves if we found out whose she is) also??
