Our defense was clearly confused lots of the time

yeah, especially chad jones. but he has looked confused under 2 different coordinators

just saying they were confused because of the teaching approach and scheme and in no way could be at fault for not learning what they were supposed to learn i think is a bit premature

quote:

That's not on the players my friend

how do you know?

there are NUMEROUS things you can attribute the players being confused to. bad coaching tecnnique and approach definitely has to take some of the blame, but the players have to shoulder blame as well

they need attitude and approach adjustments as well (mainly taylor and jones)

quote:

Potential is one thing as you have stated, but without coaching and proper development it will never fully blossom

really good players are still really good even with bad coaching, good coaching makes them great

quote:

I'm not saying that Chavis is Buddy Ryan, but our defense will be much improved next year.

when considering SEC standings, we have only 1 way to go

and if the offense improves, it should benefit the defense as well, but thinking that chavis = automatic defense improvement is a bit too early

LSU's D in 2008 was a typical chavis defense, 08 in Knoxville was the exception to the chavis rule, not the norm

GT's defense wasn't a serious test.

GT was pretty decent on defense.

like when LSU played flynn for the last peach bowl, and he tore it up.

then he sits for a year behind JR, then comes in and starts in 07, and helps win a championship.

got it.

that pretty much sums up 90% of the college football sports message board users in the country

He thought Lee was great and threw "one of the best deep balls in the country".

Lee does throw a great deep ball.

but the coaches hardly ever let him use it.

which is a shame.

I wish the kid the best, but I don't think he's doing himself justice sticking around.

but that's his choice.

but LSU absolutely needs Lee to return and improve because first of all, competition brings out the best, and second, while it sounds cliche, we really are one JJ sprained ankle from being right back where we were this year.

yeah, lee can tell jefferson to not throw off his back foot...

oh wait, he doesn't do that already, and JJ is only a frosh.

Yeah, because 19 year old JJ leading LSU is his second year on campus is exactly like 23 year old Flynn leading LSU as a fifth year senior. Got it.

jefferson showed me last wednesday that he is a LEADER.

lee had spurts of good plays, but no one likes playing for him.

notice all the pick sixes.

next year. Shepard is going to be an x-factor with the ball in his hands and Jefferson is the man to get him the ball.

I recall reading on espn.com that Shepard grew up a huge Texas fan and would have gone there but for Texas telling him that they wanted to recruit him as a "football athlete" rather than as a QB and that he saw LSU as a place that he could go to and see action as a QB early.

Don't look for him to be the "x" man.

Are you implying that the team allowed pick 6's because of their feelings about JL?

Its really his greatest strength as a passer. He had good success throwing outside the hashes this year, most of his trouble came against zones trying to throw the ball in the middle of the field. What that says is that it was way too easy to read his eyes.
