I'm glad Brandon didn't take advice of his high school coach to transfer after 1 year of college. His coach was sending the message of if you don't play or start your your first year of college you should quit and things be given to you. Harris showed don't give up and work your butt off to get better and that's what he did. His coach can learn a thing or two from Brandon.

Is that exactly what his coach said?

I thought it would be terrible to even think about transferring after one season, however if he had not won the job his sophomore season and was still behind extremely mediocre-bad qb play.. then I would highly think about it.. because if not soph season, would be hard to surpass a 3 year senior as a junior.. It's one thing to sit behind great qb play, but as a competitor to sit behind poor play would be tough to swallow.

I am just as disappointed in the people who were already giving up on Harris after 1 season.. as a true freshman..

His coach said if Brandon couldn't get any playing time over Jennings who was playing horrible then there was no point for him to stay and sit on the bench at the same time harris was kind of in the dog house and had some growing up to do and seems he has matured.

Sorry if I posted again I didn't see it but watching the replay of Harris throwing the ball just had me wondering what his coach is thinking now.

Well that was premature and wrong of him to say that.

However, if he had been in the system for multiple years then it's more understandable.

Recognize he's just taking up for his guy, however it was a mistake to bring this out publicly and put this out there on Harris. Should have gave it another year at least to bring this frustration up publicly.

True freshman just don't start in the SEC.. regardless who's ahead of them. It's just really unlikely.. No matter how great you are.. He should have kept his mouth shut publicly though and gotten all the facts, such as Harris' injury and the ultimate plan for Harris.

You don't just give up at a prestige program like this if you have confidence in your ability. Harris is committed to this program and takes great pride in this state. Major props to him.

It was buried in some obscure thread. Glad you called out that moron. I think he specifically suggested Auburn.

Considering people in general ignore their own stupidity and have an ego, he is probably only focusing on the part about Harris deserving to start, and thinking how right he was.

And he was, about that, but he's still a bitch for saying anything about him leaving.

Yep, these people are morons. How is Kyler Murray doing every time he steps on the field? How about Drew Lock for Mizzu?

Harris halfway knew the playbook, was still a bean pole, and was still very raw in his fundamentals and accuracy. Oh yeah, and the dude was hurt the back half of the year.

All of your statements are true. However, Harris had a good showing to finish the Miss St game and gave a false level of reality. He was also not as bad as he looked at Auburn, which can be attributed to "Bright Lights" of a big road game. He also was injured in that game. It appears that his coach only wanted to believe that the MSU performance was the real Harris, and ignored his injury, and his lack of readiness in the playbook. But to take it to the level of putting it out there that he should transfer, goes well beyond "pulling for your boy".

A related question, I did not want to start a separate thread. Suppose A Jennings did not come in a few plays at the end of games, and it fact, never played a down, which would have been feasible. Would the year be counted against him as far as eligibility?

I've literally thought that every game this season. Wtf kind of coach tries to influence a player like that. It's the type of world we live in now where even the mentors are quitters

I think it bad advice in the case of Harris' high school coach, but it is not about being a "quitter." I think people in sports have evolved to a point that it has to do with a players time and an acknowledgment that it can be short in sports. Why sit behind two or three guys when you can go somewhere else and get meaningful reps that may better aid your development. Most D1 level players are competitive and have "the want" to play, not sit the bench.

In the case with Harris, he wasn't ready last year and had things he needed to work on, regardless of school. Clearly, he has done that with Cam Cameron and will continue to benefit from what appears to have been a smart decision to stay at LSU.

Where did the posters go who said CLM would ruin Harris or that "you can bet the house that CLM will put in Jennings after a couple of games"?

Doesn't he post here? Idk why but for some reason I think I remember reading his BS on here.

If I'm right, it'd be rewarding as frick if he'd come out of hiding to eat his words.
