Gives him something to do. Plus it would look very bad if he doesn't. Image matter a lot for his future endorsements, so he doesn't need the bad press that he will get.

For all of the people who think Simmons is a lock for Philly, the team with the worst record only has a 25 percent chance to win the No. 1 pick. The worst team actually ends up with the No. 1 pick less than that. And with the Lakers and Celtics in the lottery, I wouldn't be surprised to see one of them get the No. 1 pick (wink, wink).
