Getting kicked off the team is not the same as early draft entrants.. While I agree losing him early was likely the most impactful loss in the timeframe he wasn't on the team when he declared

Mauck not in last 10 years. Already addressed why tm7 isn't included, he wasn't on the team when he declared.

How does Tyrann count as an "early draft entry"?

Mathieu. I don't even have to think about it.

I've never seen a player play like he does.

This is a joke, right?

4th time I posted this: Mathieu was kicked off the team and not a member of the team when he declared, otherwise Ryan perrilloux would probably be an obvious choice. If I said most impactful loss then you're right, but it's a conversation about players that were on the team and chose to leave early, tm7 wasn't on the team.

And yes I'm serious. tm7, mo and the dline def deserve the credit they receive, but yes watching the games and the drop off after he left and the subsequent MLB's that struggled I think Minter is under-appreciated. I think he was more consistent then Beck, although Beck could likely be better in the long run.

BC he was NOT on the team. His decision wasnt whether to come back and play for LSU or go pro, it was go pro or do nothing for a year or transfer to a dif school. This is simple people.

He was maybe the most impactful LOSS, but by that broad context Ryan perrilloux and injuries would be applicable.

Edit: sorry read your post wrong

I'm very aware of the fact he was kicked off the team.

He did what he had to do to straighten his life out and I applaud him for that. Therefore, I have no issue with having him returning if it was up to me, that is the title of your thread.

To say his contribution on defense in 2011 was subpar is laughable. Look at the Oregon, West Virginia, Arkansas, UGA, Florida games.

This is all hypothetical, no? So what's the big deal?

You asked the question, I pick Mathieu. I'm not at all knocking Minter, Brockers, Perrilloux or anyone else that has played for LSU in the past. My choice would be Mathieu.

Bro, read my posts. I've said he's probably the most impactful early LOSS LSU has sustained in the past 10 years but they didn't lose him BC he entered the draft, as the OP clearly stated. I could argue that tm7 could help us win the 6-14 Fla game and the 21-17 bama game in 12. But we lost him BC he was DISMISSED from the team 5 years ago. Doesn't have s#it to do with who he is now, which is a great story. And when he declared he WAS NOT on the team at the time. He was a great player, but he doesn't qualify. It's telling me Shaq and ignoring the fact that I said last 10 years; he doesn't qualify for what I'm asking.

When did I ever knock him or call him subpar? And thumbs up on upvoting yourself, I downvote your literacy.

Bro.....

My pick is Mathieu. I don't care if he was or wasn't on the team.

Like I said, I'm very aware he was DISMISSED, as you put it. That being said, I've never seen a player play like he does.

So within the last ten years, he is my pick.

Why is this such an issue?

The closest similarity would be Perrilloux who played in 3 games in '07, the Middle Tennessee game, the SEC Championship and one other in mop up duty. He wasn't on the team in '08.

We've had a ton of insanely amazing players come through in the last 10 years, PP, Mathieu, Brockers, Minter, Jeremy Hill, Jamal Adams, Mo Claiborne, OBJ, Landry, etc.

Was Mathieu there within the last 10 years? I'm not trying to get into an argument with you. He played within the last 10 years.

Not sure why this is an issue.

Again, I'm not sure what the issue is. He's my pick. Why is this a problem?

Did Mathieu play within the last 10 years?

No need to make personal insults. I'm merely answering in your thread.

That was about Minter what are you talking about?

Mathieu and the rest of the crew get the majority of the credit but people rarely, if ever, mention Minter. That's why his contribution on that D is very underrated.

Fair enough. Your'e correct, I read that wrong.

In any event, what is the problem with picking Mathieu. He meets your criteria, does he not? He played on the team in the last 10 years?

Yes or no?

This is all for giggles anyway, right? Not sure why you're getting so bent out of shape from my opinion. I'm not the only one who picked him.

Relax.

ETA: Just so you're aware, I think Minter was an invaluable player and I didn't like seeing him leave early. But he did.

I don't discredit you for picking him. We had a mass exodus that year and they all hurt.
