everyone succeeds at bama. they have the best talent.
and they have the best talent because the REC buys it. in 2002 they were on the verge of the death penalty for paying recruits:

In announcing the penalties, the NCAA Committee on Infractions issued a stern warning to Alabama, which has been before it three times since 1995: Do not, under any circumstances, come before us again.
"God forbid if there is another appearance," said Thomas Yeager, chairman of the committee. "If they do, I don't know what's left."
The only thing that kept Alabama from the death penalty was the way in which its compliance staff responded to the charges.
"There is no question that Alabama was staring down the barrel of a gun. Had there been a different approach, there was a clear legislative opportunity to impose the death penalty."

Saban got there 5 years later, in 2007, right as the sanctions ended. His recruiting classes have been ranked 1,1,5,1,1,1,1,1.

oh but Im sure thats just coincidence and, after 50 years of doing anything they wanted, the REC just stopped being corrupt overnight. 2 bad seasons in the NFL apparently took saban from a "very very good" recruiter to "totally and completely 100 percent unstoppable". I simply assume that kids from Louisiana and Florida and Jersey and California all flock to Tuscaloosa because they love pinestraw and racism so much.

I love Miles, but Gruden is the one coach I would take over him.

Gruden's way of communicating and teaching is perfect for the college game. Gruden was in the NFL, but he is an ideal college coach.

I am ready for a change. 10 years is enough for Les. He's stubborn, unimaginative and he has embarrassed himself and LSU too many times on national TV for me. We deserve better at LSU.

I think Gruden would kill it recruiting...he would do a better job of developing talent and putting players in better positions to succeed/win. Oh, and I bet he can make better in-game calls and manage the clock better than Miles could dream of...

I've just had it with 2 loss Lesss....

I wouldn't go that far but he is over-rated. Winning one super bowl doesn't necessarily translate into being a great college coach.

Let's look at
Gruden's record shall we:
Lifetime = .540
Oakland = .594
Tampa = .509

And you are tired of 2 loss Les?
You sir are a total fool.

Sorry, buddy. Comparing Gruden's NFL record to Les' 2+ losses per year is the stupidest thing anyones posted yet. The NFL is a TOTALLY different game, dude...

the anger is strong with you. i feel exactly the same. funny how some coaches are still being investigated for allegations that are 5 yrs old and at their former school. at the same time, dj fluker's agent-provided salary (while in his senior year)was apparently in the cargo hold of that malaysian airliner.

He was good for three seasons. Came into a nice roster at TB. He was mediocre AT BEST for the rest of his tenure. There is a reason he's staying his arse in the booth.

Amen... It's not just Gruden. There are a handful of coaches out there that are more organized, run the program with more discipline, are imaginative and can change with the times and can recruit lights out in Louisiana. And with the resources LSU has, I think there are a handful of accomplished coaches that could come in and do better than Les in the SEC West. TRust me...times are changin' in our division. If we want to compete for championships, we have to change with the times...plain and simple.
