Title game matches BCS #1 vs BCS #2.

No other factors matter.

For a non-conference champ to finish #1 or #2, it has to be a VERY impressive team, because the human voters control 2/3 of the BCS formula.

If #2 happens to be in the same conference as #1, does anyone really believe that team should be passed over, and #3 should play for the championship?

The amazing thing this year is, if Okie State gets beat and Arkie beats us in a close one, it is possible (though certainly highly unlikely) that the SEC West could be home to #1, #2 and #3 in the final BCS ranking.

We HAVE to beat Arkie, and I think Miles and his Tigers will be ready to rumble and will smoke those piggies like a cochon de lait.

I think that it is unfair for LSU to have to go 2-0 vs. Oregon or Alabama to be champs but Alabama and Oregon have to only go 1-1 vs. LSU. So I say no rematch unless the perfect storm happens. Also, I believe you have to win the conference championship to even be eligible.

I don't even want to get caught up in the rut. No way around it , the Tigers are capable and shouldn't even have a hint of "what ifs" .

My biggest problem is not with a team that fails to win their conference winning the NC. My concern is more with the rematch scenario. Say LSU wins out and gets matched with Oregon in the BCSCG. It will just seem wrong if Oregon wins and is declared national champion. We will be 14-1, they will be 14-1, and our only losses will have come to one another. That sure feels like a tie. Alabama would be the same thing. Heck if Bama were to beat LSU, they would only be 13-1, so really..LSU would have a better winning percentage. Maybe they could lose the game and still be Champs. I can certainly understand why teams would shy away from tough schedules if playing them provides so little benefit.

i said no in the past and i say it now. when ou got the call against us in '03, it was wrong. they did not win their conference. and if we lose in atlanta, i don't think we should go. yes, one can make the argument that the best team does not alway win, but allowing the loser to go on pretty much diminishes the regualar season. when you lose, you should go home; hell that's what happens in a playoff.

bama will have no problem doing this

If the tables were turned, and we had lost to Bama,
we would be arguing the same point, just saying.

If a team does not compete in their conference championship, can they honestly go on to the national championship and claim victory over the country?

If a year where the 2 best teams in the country are in the same division of the same conference occurs why shouldn't those 2 play for the championship?

Here's my biggest issue with this statement. Why should bama be considered the best one loss team?? I'm not saying they aren't, but the media fueling this are just playing into the Bama entitlement. They lost, at home, they had their shot. Before the game, even talking heads like Herbie were saying that if bama lost at home they shouldn't be considered for a rematch, now these same people are changing their tune! I really hope that lsu and Osu win out and this becomes a moot point.

This happened in 03 when ok played us and did not win their conference. USC actually got screwed and should have played Ingush game. That way there would not have been a split national championship.
