If we're going to be a run only team, why not try and be creative with it?

So I'm completely on board with the idea that Miles is emotionally scarred from '08 and will never throw the ball again outside of having an all NFL starting-caliber backfield. I'd love to have a true balanced offense, but it's just not going to happen and frankly if we can generate offense and be win games without throwing the ball, then so be it.
While they are down a bit this year, Auburn is a perfect example of a team that bases it's offense around run play after run play with the timely pass now and then. But unlike Auburn, we basically have 3 run plays that we repeat over and over, allowing the defense to easily adjust and then it simply becomes a game of personal battles where scheme goes out the window.
Why not incorporate toss sweeps, jet sweeps, more read option, counter plays, hell anything that gives our talented RB a chance to mix it up and get in the open field. Right now we're successful only if all 10 guys on the play block exactly how they are supposed to. And that's just not good odds for success long term.

Because Miles believe in a power running game.

I agree that a healthy dose of jet sweeps/orbit sweeps, and the occasional counter, would do a lot to open up our middle running plays. We ran an end around to Quinn against Wisconsin but I don't recall seeing anything like it since. Except for those two plays to Miquel James.

They worked. Will never see them again.

They've tried this. AJ can't make the correct read to save his life.
