If we win out, I think our biggest threat right now is Tennessee. Georgia is going to get in if the SEC Championship is their only loss. But the committee won't let three SEC teams in unless everyone else falls apart. Even if we win the SEC Championship, I don't know if that is enough to vault a Tennessee team that would have one less loss than us and has a dominant win in Baton Rouge.

It's only right we take Bama's place at #6 this week. LSU would beat Oregon and TCU into the ground, they should not be ahead of the Tigers.

just keep winning. the SEC champ will never get left out. win all your remaining games. that's all you have to do.

It would easily be enough. Not likely, but if we win, we're in.

Not if the direct competition is Tennessee.

Yes, the SEC Champion has always made the playoff, but the SEC champion in those scenarios has never had 2 losses.

Tonight is irrelevant. If we win out we are in.

I don't see how we go to 6.

Georgia
Ohio State
Michigan
TCU
Oregon
Tennessee

Should all definitely be ahead of us. Possibly USC and/or UCLA too.

Its interesting conversation but the committee has said
that when they are splitting hairs between teams being a conference champion is a tie breaker. Plus throw in the fact that if LSU beats Georgia, Georgia will be the second SEC team in the playoff. Also doesn't help that Tennessee has no more quality teams left on their schedule to impress the committee.

I think we move to 7 and that pretty much guarantees we would get in the CFP if we won out which is all that really matters. At least 3 of those in front of us would fall behind us in that case. Ohio or Michigan will lose, and Tennessee as well as Georgia would both drop behind the SEC Champ.

I think the rankings will be as follows:

1. Georgia
2. Ohio State
3. Michigan
4. TCU
5. Oregon
6. Tennessee
7. LSU

Kinda hard to imagine Tenn dropping that far down to 6. I do like us at 7 though.

TCU still has it's Texas tango left...I don't think they make it out alive unbeaten. Oregon still has 3 notable games left too...at this point, LSU just needs to win this Saturday. Everything else is causing us all unnecessary stress to think about at this point.

There are two different possibilities wrapped in that statement.

I agree that if LSU were to win out they would be in.

However, if LSU lost to Ark but still made Atlanta because of the tie-breaker, they could beat Georgia by 40 and not get in with 3 losses. So “never get left out” is an overstatement.

If we win out, i think there's a good possibility that 3 SEC Teams are in with the OSU/Michigan winner. I think we jump Oregon tonight.

I think it would have more to do with them being essentially out of their conference Championship race while Oregon/TCU still 100 percent control their own destinies. The fact that both TCU and Oregon still have tough games left also would make it a relatively low risk move by the committee. This is kind of in line with their previous ranking including why I think they were willing to rank us 10th in the first place ahead of the Bama game. I also think we actually end up ranked ahead of Tenn before the SECCG for this same reason if we win the next 3.

No way in hell the committee would let that happen unless everyone else has 2 losses.
