He's walking into a declining program. We're primed for a 5 loss season due to the way Miles has managed the program with his recruiting schedule and development process.

We aren't reloading after this season. We're rebuilding. All of this due to mismanagement.

And you know what will happen, people will think "hey, I miss Miles" and our resident tards will be on hand to say "I told you so" because they love Miles more than LSU.

I would like to whole-heartedly show the next coach my FULL support. I can't wait for the true fans to be happy again.

while I somewhat agree with this........I can also say that, in today's college game, TRUE freshmen can make an enormous impact. I mean.....just this past weekend we all saw this. so...with the right coach and the right incoming freshmen, I can literally see a 10 win season next year. it won't be easy, but very possible.

Huh? Next year we lose some key guys, but the cupboard is still plenty full. Don't start making excuses for the new guy already.

On another note, if a new guy wins a championship in year 2 or 3, will Miles get credit from those in this fan base that gave Saban credit for 2007?

Rebuilding.... Just like Michigan had to do when they fired Hoke and brought in Harbaugh

I think the new coach would find the cupboard far from bare. I think there is a lot of young (misused) talent on this roster. We have a great class coming in, if we could retain a few of the coaches from this staff and hold it together, I think we'd be just fine

We lost 6 in Sabans first year at Alabama. You have to just rip the band aid off and move forward!

No way! We the talent on this team, all it takes is someone who knows what they're doing and we'll be just fine.

I disagree. LSU has had recruiting classes ranked #2, #6, and #3 the past 3 seasons. I'm willing to bet there are a lot of coaches who would love to take over this program.

I've been saying this for years. Young and/or inexperienced QBs (and other positions too) can and do play very well.

Experience helps, but isn't absolutely required.

Anytime a coach is fired, the new coach is walking into a tough situation. Otherwise the first coach wouldn't have been fired. But a new LSU coach will still have talent to work with, great facilities, and oh yeah he'll also be making millions every year.

True fans always show FULL support, you can be unhappy with a coach and want a change while continueing to support the players and university

I think you are wrong. I think a new coach comes in and adds excitement....recruits as well if not better than Miles.....and wins right away. A program with these kinds of resources and budget...with the right coach wins NOW!

Just get a real coach in here and things will be fine. There will be new excitement and patience with the new guy. Miles has made LSU football not fun to follow. Regardless of the wins/losses next year the program just needs to show its moving in the right direction and most fans will be energized seeing that. We have been in quicksand with Miles ever since 1/9/12.

Can we please stop this nonsense?

I'll gladly say I've defended Miles for most of his tenure...and I'll happily say that because for most of his tenure he deserved defending, considering frickheads were calling for his firing after his SECOND GAME as head coach. That's the level of nonsense that has surrounded the program for his entire run here.

But no one...ever...liked Miles more than LSU. Most who defended him did it so as not to appear idiotic for wanting to fire a coach after Game #2.

Yes...I think after what we saw on Saturday, his time in Baton Rouge needs to come to an end. But that in no way means he was a bad hire, a bad coach, or it would have been the right move to fire him after losing to TENN at home days after the second major hurricane hit our area in several weeks. People who have been harping on that for over a decade don't suddenly get to stand up and say, like you just suggested, "I told you so!" after all the success that came afterward.

All coaches...or nearly all of them...eventually run out of time. Miles has had an exceptional run and his looks to be over. So be it. That makes me sad...both because I've enjoyed his run here, and change...while exciting...can be dangerous even when necessary. When the move gets made, I hope we do what will be unprecedented, and that's hire a THIRD STRAIGHT quality coach that will continue the level of success we have become accustomed to since 2000.

Agreed, it saddens me because these things never end well. There is a cloud of desperation around the team now and Miles really seems to know he can't fix it. The line play and QB play is not there, couple that with his play book and there is not much he can do. It will probably be rough around here for a couple of years.
