I think more realistically would be Mark Turgeon. I'd think we'd have a small shot at stealing him from A&M.

This might explain our disconnect as posters on this board. You believe he's realistic, or even possible. And I think that's ridiculous.

Keep trying what? You honestly believe he's a realistic possibility?

I like this guy. I'm a fan of Floyd too. My main contact said Floyd won't come here though. I for one hope we offered.

i like chris mooney from richmond. lavin's first st. john's team is full of seniors. sound familiar? let's see how he is doing a couple years from now. i think he'll get it done, and he's in a good place right now. im sure he would've listened had LSU called him 3 years ago but its in the past now. he sure as frick isn't leaving st. johns to come here now.

I would hire TIm Floyd in a heartbeat. Even go so far as to fire TJ and then hire him now.
Anybody that considers the program in good shape after TJ's 3 seasons is blind. The recruiting has been bad and the coaching is pathetic the last 2 years.
And yes - USC used him to divert some of the spotlight to save that scum bag football program. USC football was a total lack of institutional control and Kiffin tried to keep it going.

I actually think Billy Gillispie would be a good hire if Trent decides to leave. The guy may love the bottle a bit too much, but he's a proven winner. At Kentucky all the fat boosters wanted a lively, glad-handing coach with charisma, and Gillispie preferred to keep to himself (and his bottle). Once the wins dried up for a short period, they were ready to fire him.

He won Texas A&M, something that would have seemed so alarmingly impossible before he arrived in College Station. The Aggies were dreadful in basketball prior to him and he brought with him wins and recruited well. The fans followed the results and filled the stadium. Charisma is not needed at LSU for basketball. Our fans are bandwagoners and will only show up with wins. They don't care about Rotary Club appearances or elementary school readings, just winning. He probably still has good ties in Dallas and Houston, and those are the nearest recruiting hotbed to LSU.

I don't want Trent to leave, because I don't think we've seen the best of his teams. If he does leave the cesspool that is our bandwagon fan base (in regards to basketball support), I don't blame him. I wish him well wherever he goes.

if billy g doesnt get a head gig (he will, probably texas tech) he'd be a hell of a bench coach that this team deperately needs to mesh with G, scott and trent.

With all the talk about Tim Floyd, I'm curious to know what everyone thinks about Larry Eustachy next door at Southern Miss. He beat Floyd's UTEP team this year (as well as Central Florida), and has historically played Calipari teams hard. He has USM at 22 wins this year. Kind of a slow start at USM, though. Don't know if LSU would afford him that much time to get things going.

Larry Eustachy would not be a good hire. He would not function well with a bigger spotlight on him. He is good where he is.
