Tennessee is not a Have Not. They will be back soon. They are much more powerful longterm to be a bottom 8.
Are they, though? Most of their success, which was arguably better than Bama's during that stretch, was from 30s to 50s.
Do you realize that if not for Clint Stoerner's fumble Tennessee's last national title would be 70 years ago? 1951.
They've not won an SEC title in 25 years. LSU's drought that seemed like an eternity was only 13 years: 1988 to 2001.
Tennessee is definitely in the bottom half unless you still put a lot of weight in the leather helmet era.

The LSU-Bama annual series needs to end.
I’d be ok with playing Bama every 3rd or 4th year.
As long as we play Auburn and Ole Miss every year, I’m good.

Keep Ole Miss and Florida and then pick one from Bama or Aggie or Arkansas. Auburn probably a no go because they'll keep Bama and UGA.
I don't know what the brackets will look like but I am fairly certain that the pods, assuming they go that route, will maintain the Alabama/Auburn and Florida/Georgia matchups.
I expect it to be LSU plus the Mississippi schools with either Arkansas or aTm depending on if the Aggies and Texas want to play each other every year.

Tenn has a national championship, rabid fan base and puts players in the NFL. I could argue swapping them with A&M as each is on the cusp. But, I do think Tenn is going to need to match up with 2 of the “have nots” (Vandy UK Ark Missou)and A&M will get OU and LSU plus Arkansas (still scared of Texas I’m guessing)

If it’s just one opponent, then we’ll likely end up with A&M.
I just assumed TAMU would get paired with Texas. I think LSU would get stuck with Ark Bc everyone else has in state rivals or an extremely traditional rival like UF/UGA.

I want to keep UF. There is no greater satisfaction outside of Bama, of beating any team in the league then beating those pussies.

Play 9 games split into 4 pods
1.tx,OU, mizz, Ark
2. Lsu, ole miss,A&M,State
3. Bama,aub,tenn,vandy
4. uga,fla,usc,kentucky
one year you will have 5 home games the next you have 4.
you will play 1 have and 1 have not
1st year lsu
TX,MIZZou, 1 at home 1 away
Bama,Vandy
Fla, Kentucky
the next year you play the other 2 , the 3rd year you play the first 2 just swap home and away, same 0n 4th year , that way in a 4 year span you will play at all stadiums , plus bama gets to keep tenn, aub, fla will keep uga , tx will keep OU , we will keep ole miss and A&M

i dont think Auburn would be to happy if they ended up with Alabama, UGA, & LSU. Dont theyll go for that. isnt that like the second favorite game for LSU fans?
florida, bama, uga are much more rivals for auburn fans than LSU is. auburn fans couldnt care less.
as an lsu fan i like the series but i beleive Ole Miss and Bama are more important to me. Historically we played those teams more, even played florida a lot more and would rather them than auburn. We have played A&M just as much and they werent even in the conference most years.
i want
Ole Miss
A&M
&
either bama, florida or auburn.

Going back to my youth, we rarely played them...they are not a long time rival...check the history.
Who cares? We've played them 30yrs in a row at this point. We've played Mississippi State more than any other team in school history but does anyone really care about that "rivalry"?

This right here shows how screwed up the SEC schedules have been over the years. Like LSU these are all charter members of the SEC and we’ve only played they 32 times since 1933? And 4 of the LSU-UGA games are in the SECCG so not scheduled so we’ve only been scheduled to play them 28 times in 87 years

Was one loss before they joined the league?
Lost to them 20-15 in 1978 Liberty Bowl. Charles Alexander's last game. Kellen Winslow was on that Missouri team.

What did I miss? Why is the consensus that they would pick a MS school over Ark and not keep the Battle for the Golden Boot going?
Posted on 6/2/22 at 12:42 pm to mdomingue
Discontinuing the annual LSU Alabama game cheapens the whole SEC. On average that has been the biggest SEC game of the year going back 15 years or so. That would be a shame.

We have too much history with Alabama regardless of the overall record to not play every year.
Bama state and ole Miss must be the three.

It’s truly been the SEC game of the year 2 maybe 3 times 2011, 2019 for sure and maybe 2012 (2012 A&M-Bama has a case) otherwise it’s been an over rated matchup with CBS trying to recapture 2011.
Posted on 6/2/22 at 3:23 pm to clamdip
It may be dead, but it’s easiest method to have the fairest of schedules. You’d keep some of the rivalries and then you’d visit each school within four calendar years. The issue is figuring out conference championship.

Discontinuing a game that one team has won all but once in the last decade cheapens the SEC?
Can you provide a link?
I suspect the LSU Alabama games in 2011 and 2019 were tops ranked but I also would not be surprised to see the Iron Bowl as higher ranked in many years.
Closest thing I found was an article from 2018 with the 10 top most watched games in the previous 25 years. Not just SEC though there were 5 SEC games.
https://247sports.com/LongFormArticle/College-footballs-most-watched-regular-season-games-in-25-years-120768069/#120768069_1
#3 was the top SEC game and that was 2011 LSU/Alabama.
#4 was 2009 Florida/Alabama
#8 was 2013 Auburn/Alabama
#9 was 2017 Auburn/Alabama
#10 was 2013 aTm/Alabama
2018 & 2019 LSU/Alabama did draw a lot of viewership though. 2020 & 2021, not so much.
I think LSU fans put considerably more value on that game than non LSU fans.
