im glad it didnt happen that way cause then we would have been 11-2 instead of 13-1 with nothing to show for it, at least we have an SEC trophy for this season

It would depend on the score.

No, we'd have won in the Sugar Bowl and be #2 in the polls and everyone would be looking forward to next year being preseason #1 and Bama at home.

The 2 best teams played against each other in the title game. Even if we lost, we would still be considered the second best team and have played them again. Everyone else lost and LSU's resume was better than everyone's.

Yes.

People are being dumb and are still mad Alabama got in.

Our resume would have still trumped anybody else's.

With our resume-Yes but it would have been much more debated than bama. WIth bamas resume-a resounding NO. LSU will need another decade of success to have that kind of entitlement. Though everyone views us a as current elite we still dont have the national brand to where we dont have to earn anything to get somewhere. Bama is in that catergory along with Notre Dame USC Oklahoma and maybe Michigan. Florida state had it for a little while but after a decade of mediocrity they lost it. If I had a nickel for how many people have said that "FSU is back!" to start each season since 2000 then Id be a very rich man. If we put another 5-10 years of our current stage then we will be in that position. Our reputation of chewing up coaches and spitting them out and wasting talent from the 80s and 90s has prevented us from attaining that Tier 1 status. Currently we are tier 2.

yep and tha hog fans would be drownin in their tears...

and I'll add this.... If we had to play Alabama again this year to settle the tie, we win. The oddsmaker on Tim Brando show yesterday said LSU would be favored in the rematch because of motivation... and he's right.
