If our passing game was dangerous, would Leonard

gain more rushing yards or fewer?

With the stacked boxes he faces, once he gets to the second level he is unstoppable and rips off big chunks of yards. If teams worried about the pass more and didn't stack the box, he might not rip off so many long runs.

It is a two edged sword for Leonard's Heisman chances. For the team's sake, I would still rather see a more balanced attack even if his yardage was reduced to merely 150 per game or so.

The stacked boxes are working to his favor at the point. 5-7 yards past the line and he's going for big yards.

he would probably be even more effective on his touches.

i don't know that the stats would change either way, but it might make it easier on him.

I think we will see fewer stacked boxes because it is a poor strategy for Fournet and our line. The better strategy is to play the linebackers and safeties back to make the tackle at the second level. If they put everyone on the line, he will have a lot of long runs this year.

Hard to say the effect on an individual run, but I'd guess his game totals would drop.

Our line is opening up big holes, so people in the box are irrelevant thus far. Yeah, if the LBs were dropping into coverage, there's a better chance he'd meet with one 20 yds downfield rather than stepping past one at the line of scrimmage.

Leonard getting tackled at the second level, 5-8 yards down the field, would lengthen our time of possession and keep our defense off the field. Not sure that is a strategy I would want if I was an opposing coach. There just might not be an effective strategy against us for the teams without an elite front seven.

there isn't one, esp if we incorporate more bootlegs and keep using those sweeps. adding in a little misdirection will keep LF feasting against weaker front 7s (or open up huge gains on misdirections for dural/harris)
