You mean other than the fact there is a huge difference in being the interim HC and actual HC.

Small things like hiring the staff are kinda important.

He coached at USC and LSU with the staff and schemes he didn't select.

Maybe O will get a shot and be a great HC. But to suggest winning a few games as Interim with someone else's players, coaches and schemes is proof he is a top tier HC is ridiculous.

Arkansas, Auburn, Florida st, and A&M would never hire Orgeron until he was successful running a program at a smaller school. Chizik had a similar record to O in their head coaching stints and I don't think they'd ever ignore resumes again like that.

I love the way posters on here only give O credit for his first HC opportunity 10+ yrs ago at what was then a bottom of the heap shite school.

I'm a jimbo guy..but if he wins out and we go with jimbo? He will be at another power 5 as head coach. Everyone was upset when he didn't get the USC gig..now he's done it AGAIN at LSU. Someone WILL snatch him up

No he's not. Just because his agent leaks to media that he is a candidate doesn't mean that those schools are serious about hiring him.

Because he didn't build or fully run the programs at LSU or USC. He took over mid season with someone else's coaches, players, and system.

Its just not good enough of a resume builder to overshadow his actual head coaching history.

That might be a good point. The flip side is that it may be more difficult to do what he is doing. An interim coach seldom takes over when things are going well. It is usually after adversity on or off the field.

So, he gets a lot of credit for rallying the program back to where they are successful, for allowing his staff to tweak some things offensively, and for doing the off the field things to relate to the Tiger nation. The opportunity will be there for him somewhere if is available.

Right...except that's not really what's happened in his two stints as interim. He's taken over loaded teams several games into a season, not bottom dwellers that were getting blown away and the program was in such shambles that they needed to fire their coach ASAP.

Don't forget, while it was an idiotic thing to say, many MANY geniuses on this forum were claim "anyone" could come in and win with the players Miles had at his disposal. Well...someone has. Now, does that mean he's a damn football savant doing things that Miles simply didn't know enough to do, or merely doing what most here argued needed to be done for a few years and is getting essentially the same results as anyone else who'd have taken the training wheels off of the offense?

Good luck to him. There's a reason he was never considered for another HC job after the Ole Miss abortion.
He was considered at USC and is in the running at LSU. You don't get to be interim coaches at those two schools for just hanging around.

"not nosediving". He has done a hell of a lot better than that. Why is every anti-O poster feel the need to lie about what Coach O has done as the interim head coach here and at USC?

You get to be interim coach because you're the only one on staff with HC experience.

His spectacular failure is no lie.

His success is just a testament to how bad Miles sucked. Not crashing the Ferrari into a tree, as Miles managed to do every year, is not a qualification for a HC contract.

good lord, you are dreaming. A mid-major may offer O a HC job, but no big time school will do so.

Look, I LOVE what O has done as interim, but interim is far, far different than being permanent HC, responsible for all aspects of the program.

If O really wants to be a HC, then do it the way nearly every other HC has done it -- go to a mid-major school, kick arse, and then move up.

O was 3-21 in conference in his only stint as a permanent HC. He's not getting a HC job as an elite school without moving downand proving he can do it.

Look, I'm not going to come on here having never posted citing sources left and right, but just based off of the little bit I know, O would jump on the ULL job without thinking twice. Hud's welcome is just about worn out, and I can promise you he'd be the Cajuns' top target.

you are way undervaluing his job at both usc and lsu.

I get it you don't want him to be the permanent LSU coach but to trash his performance is a cheap shot. you should go into politics where being a scumbag is expected.

I just wish the lsu fan base would not slight coach O. He got his dream job as an interim position. He looks like he will win every game except a war against bama. Whether he becomes headcoach or not he deserves everyone's respect and I for one really hope he stays with LSU if the powers that be bring in another head coach. That would be a really hard pill for anyone to swallow. Coach O needs to know that the state of louisiana is behind him no matter what happens and that we want him wearing purple and gold.

If Orgeron is not selected as head coach then he should certainly warrant offers to be head coach elsewhere. Likely destinations : Houston if Herman moves on, Baylor , possibly A&M if Sumlin is gone, Arkansas if Bielema wears out his swelcome, Auburn if Malzahn gets blown out by BAMA, Purdue ( not a great fit), Arizona, maybe even Florida State in a trade for Jimbo. Good Cajun Catholic might be just what Notre Same needs
