how can we be so lopsided? Great on defense and absolutely awful on offense. I think Crowton is making those calls.

Of course Crowton is making the calls.

You answered your own question. We are great on defense because Les doesn't touch or invade the chief's space. Les has too much influence on the O, which is why we suck at it.

I don't understand. You don't think Miles is calling the coverages on D do you? That is probably why we are lopsided, Chief is running the D and some crazy combination of our O with veto power from CLM is what is causing the mess that we call O.

Les was a hell of a playcaller in the nc game.

No, I don't.

That's probably accurate. Point I was making is that Crowton, regardless of any restrictions Miles has put upon him, is calling the offensive plays.

A friend works the sidelines as an official and he told me last year during the Florida game Les came over to talk to Chavis. My friend couldn't hear Les but Chavis looked at Les and barked back and said "I'M TRYING TO WIN THIS GODDAMN GAME"! So it's obvious Les can't frick with the D.

wanna know how it goes w/ the playcalling? crowton is calling the plays that miles limits him to calling... for example say we're on the 10 yard line about to score and it's 2nd and 5... we're running b/c that's what Big 10 football (Miles' background) is all about...
Crowton might call the play, but Miles gets the say whether he wants to air it out, run an option, keep it on the ground, do a screen, etc....
pretty much everything i've seen out of the playcalling this season is straightaway ol' Big 10, run it twice, throw on third football... now i ask you, who has a background in the Big 10? then i'll ask, who do you now KNOW calls the plays?
the evidence is all there...

Think Chavis would be a good choice for head coach?
Posted on 10/2/10 at 11:33 am to mikeytig
idk if chavis wants to be a head coach. he has had his chances and if he wanted to be we woulda already been a head coach.i wouldn mind him being the head coach the only question is can he recruit

Let's just hope that Miles does not interfere with defensive play calling.

If Miles is calling the plays, then...Lord help us.

This is just my opinion, not worth much not substantiated by any sort of evidence, but i feel that Les Miles has a great deal of control over the Offense and he does not want to let go of Crowton because GC has a akind of personality that allows Les to dictate terms and get away with it.
And one of the obvious issues(my thought based on what i have seen) with Gary is his shortcomings in developing a QB.
Other than that i think X's and O's are not Gary's issues it is the Headcoach who stiffles his play calling.
