Just think if Dr. Baker walked a new cub out of the tunnel and onto the field 5 minutes before kickoff next Saturday night. We probably would be heard straight into Mississippi. I know it will never happen that way just to protect the little guy from being spooked and traumatized for the rest of his tenure but damn that would be epic.

Not to move on to quickly from Roscoe (MikeVl) because he was probably the most beautiful of all the Tigers LSU has had but really hope we get a Tiger donated soon. Its gonna be sad walking past his habitat and not seeing him roaming around out there before the game.

Cant WAIT!! Geaux Tigers!!!

My fault I know my Roman numerals too..

I think if The Rock is gameday special guest picker, he should bring out the cub on the set of gameday and introduce him.

Not sure what the hate is about.

It isn't going to happen, but it would be cool - both before the Bama game, to have a new Tiger, and to have a cub.

Not sure how many Tigers have been cubs when we got them. It could be a good way to get them used to the environment.

I agree. That place would go crazy if they did something like that.

That would scare the shite out of the little guy and he'd never ever get into the cage for gameday after that.

To me, number 6 has been the prettiest ----so far...., can't beat that lil white from his Siberian background------BUT--------Mike III is my ALLTIME favorite---he's who I 'grew up' with as Mike THE Tiger--literally would roar when they scratched the cage on the NE 15 yardline.......

1. Have a downvote for worrying about downvotes.

2. Mike VII will not be a cub. Baker and the vet school are looking specifically for a young tiger between 1-2 years old, the age of Mike VI when he arrived. A cub is much harder to care for and if you want to see the live mascot program shut down in a heartbeat, let a tiger cub die in LSU's care.

3. Mike VII nor any future Mike will not be paraded around games in that cage. Thankfully, that tradition is dead and gone. If the live mascot tradition ends, it will not be the fault of the "lib'ruls," it will be the yahoos screaming to put the tiger in the cage. Just be thankful you have a live tiger on campus and try not to do anything to frick that up.

So we are getting another tiger?

Because you seemed pretty confident that we weren't getting one in the past

However, conditions for obtaining a live tiger have changed since 2007, when Dr. Baker obtained Mike VI. So yes, it is likely that the tradition of live tigers on campus ends with Mike VI.

Spot on

The prognosis is still for one to two more years of quality life, but right now at least, it's easy to believe that he has whipped cancer and will be with us at least 5-6 more years.

Can't wait to see Mike VII in his trailer

Which Mike was it that we got as a cub and he was introduced at a basketball game? I was there, just can't remember how long ago that was. Or which Mike it was.

Mike V was a cub in 1990 introduced at a Men's Tiger basketball game. The players were playing with him and everything.

Maybe that's why that particular Tiger had such a great personality. Introduced very young to crowds of people and just got used to it early on. Possibly waiting till they are 2-3 years old keeps them a bit more reserved and physically protective.

Point out where I said that.

I said what I said here: that if the live mascot tradition is ever ended, it will be due to yahoos like post here who scream for future Mikes to be put in that cage and cattle prodded.

Considering Alexander directed Baker to start looking for Mike VII when the diagnosis showed Mike VII cancer had spread--despite the yahoos screaming that "that lib'rul's gonna bow down to PETA!"--I'd say we're getting another tiger, for which I fought for and which I'm glad.

Unlike many folks who post here, I don't ignore facts and plain evidence.
