Is this a Jimbo Fisher type contract situation? Stuck with a huge guaranteed contract? Is there a buyout option for a smaller number?

I still think this can and will work under Kelly, but how screwed are we if it doesn’t?

Put it this way. Woodward knew our fans wanted a big fish, so he had to use big bait.

LSU won the NC in men's baseball and women's basketball and isn't too far removed from men's football NC.

Woodward has no loyalty to BK same as he didn't toward Ed O. I don't think BK gets fired (if things go south) this year, but next year I could see it.

I don't want to turn into UF where its a revolving door for HCs.

Unless BK choses otherwise, he will be our HC for many years. I think that is a good thing.

I don’t either. It just doesn’t seem financially possible to punt after year 3 anyway.

Kelly has the history throughout his career that I feel confident in him to stabilize this program. It would have to go deep south for me to start thinking about him getting fired.

BK isn't going anywhere. LSU's backers are getting fed up with buyouts. Replacing the defensive staff will be bad enough.

Not sure why all the downvotes. I was just trying to find out the contract situation. Tough room here.

I think even if we lose the rest of our games this season he gets next year as well. I could see him get ran off after next year if they really stink it up but I’m optimistic we will see at least a little improvement.

Hot take here, but the long coaches contracts are probably a net good for the sport. It has gotten ridiculous with the mob mentality that weak AD’s would have to give into and nuke programs. You have to give people more than a couple of years to build. It does no one any good to constantly cycle through coaches and buyouts.

And what do you base that off of?

His coaching? His game management? His recruiting? His record Vs top 25/10 teams?

The funny thing about this is if he goes 8-4 this year and next it will be the same people calling for his job that are downvoting my post.

Coach Kelly will be given the chance to right the ship.

By year 5 if he doesn’t have a NC he needs to go. Thats 4 full years of recruiting and the transfer portal to make LSU exactly what he wants it to be.

It won’t. BK will be here a while. We’re going to be glad about it.

BK is an excellent head coach and will win a lot of games here. Don’t listen to the emotional kids on here, they would have fired Saban after the Ole Miss TigerStadium game in 2001.

We have an excellent CFB head coach. Let him do his thing, it works.

Don’t get caught up in the emotional LSU vacuum… pretty much all the non-emotional outsider experts know BK will do well here.

This (10 year, $100 mil contract) is why it would be a disaster, if the Brian Kelly tenure turns into a failure. He has to succeed.

In modern day college football, having no question on your head coach helps. Yes we’re all mad about the game, but this is a process and a complete overhaul.

Let the season play out. See how we do with a team of HIS guys next year and in year 4.

Firing everyone every time we’re mad doesn’t help anyone.

yeah all those things.

i know you’re basing it off the performance of half our team in his second year here.
