If Georgia fouls up the Richt firing by leaking it two weeks in advance, is Richt still the coach at Georgia?

I am comparing apples and oranges to some degree. Richt's release does not come with a $15 million buy-out.

I think Richt would have had a similar outpouring of public support and he would not have been let go.

Georgia has not won an SEC title in a decade. I think they have showed plenty of patience. The fan base would not have rallied to support Richt.

If we make it to 2021 with no SEC title, I'm sure Miles will not have any supporters left.

I am not anti-Miles... It's only been a week. It would be very easy to let go except the shite is still being stirred in the media.

No. Clearly UGA decided at some point that they were moving on from Richt regardless of the replacement. Now maybe that's because they already had a commitment from Kirby Smart, but I don't think they would have changed their mind either way. This isn't the first time people seriously questioned whether UGA would fire Richt

On the other hand, this is really the first time people with the ability to do so (not just fans with a lot of LSU t-shirts) seriously discussed firing Les Miles. I think LSU was willing to let Miles go if they could get someone who they felt very strongly could perform better than Miles (i.e. Fisher). However, I don't think any of them wanted to get into a coaching search. The only thing that kept LSU from getting Fisher is Fisher turning down LSU's offer.

I didn't even read this but for Christ's sake and everything holy, let it go.

You know who the coach is the next 3 years.

Georgia fires there winningest coach ever to the tune of an $8 million buyout and hires a coach that has NEVER been a head coach. That is supposed to be a better situation than what LSU was trying to do by bringing in a coach that has won an NC in the last few years?

According to most LSU fans, you can't fire your winningest coach ever and expect to improve so I guess Georgia is about to go on a serious decline.

I think he is. I think with any coach tenured that long and a firing being leaked the media, public opinion will be against you.

Face it... 15 million + shitty AD = public relations nightmare. Les will be your coach for a long time. Sooner you can deal with it, the better.

I think a big difference is Richt wanted or at least was ready to get out of Athens and he got immediately hired by Miami. This was probably an amicable agreement for all three parties.

Where is Miles going to go?

Probably not.
He is not Miles.

Give the Devil his due. Miles handled about as well as it could have been handled from his end.
