How bad is the traffic to Lafayette after an LSU game? Going east isn’t so bad, but have never gone west.

It's not bad, just stay to the left.

It's not bad at all once you get on. It's getting to the interstate. It'll be a complete shite show Saturday Night with the late game and a high profile match-up.

You're better off bringing some beer, ham, and bread and chilling in the parking lot for an hour or so before you waste your time idling

Shouldn't be a problem once you get out of BR. You could always take 190 if something happens on 10/basin.

Its actually not bad. If you stay to the 4th or end of the game its easier and with a late night game coming up I suspect no problems on the drive back to the Hub City. Hardest most congested part is getting on to the I 10 but there's some work arounds and short cuts to skip the mess.

As others have said, getting to the bridge is the issue and will likely take you longer than Bridge to Lafayette.

Also depends where you park. If you park in the Levee lot or somewhere on that side that flows that way you're better off. Even still, it's a parking lot on both River Road and Nicholson after games...even if you stay. Best trick I've found it to stay right on RR and turn through the neighborhood back to Nicholson ASAP then stay right on Nicholson. If you go all the way down on RR and then try and merge back onto Nicholson near the Bridge entrance, you're at the mercy of some asshat that'll need to let you cross four lanes to get on the on ramp. Plus, you'll be running right past that big arse Haunted House they have right there.

So...it's a complete shite show getting to I-10. Once you hit the ramp though, it's quick.

Hannity's post game show will start before you hit the Atchafalaya...so there's that to look forward to at least.

Depends on how you get directed out of campus, if you get screwed heading southeast it will take an extra 20-30 minutes to get on the interstate, if you get to head west/north then it cuts off that time.

So park on the north side of campus and book it as soon as the game is done.

I have been going to games for a long time and head back towards Lafayette. I have done Nicholson but I promise you Highland is the answer. I agree with the person that says park on the north side. It may take you a few minutes to get on Highland but they have it set up were traffic is flowing. They are not letting traffic from the south side head north on Highland. No reason to wait a hour afterwards, don't be a fair weather fan stay to the end of the game walk to your vehicle grab a quick bite and head out. And remember "GEAUX TIGERS "

Park on North side of campus off Nicholson on East side. Pay $20 and back in your parking spot. After game go back to Nicholson and turn right. All traffic flowing to bridge. Done this many many times. Not bad at all.

I do this every game (actually drive back to Lake Charles after the game on I-10 West) and I stay the whole game. I have had to leave in the 3rd quarter for a blow out win one time and the traffic was still light and easy. You are better off trying to park around the Law Center, U High or the Fraternity or Sorority houses (somewhere near Dalrymple). It is better to walk farther to your car after the game and the traffic flow is much better. I would never get a parking pass. Dalrymple is two lanes heading off campus from Highland Road intersection and you can get on I-10 West bound by the lakes. It normally takes me about an hour and 50 minutes to get back to Lake Charles after the game, including the LSU traffic, which is very easy on that side of campus. Hate to give away my secrets for those that park on the other side of campus and bitch about the traffic.
