i hate this fricking place
I didn't write the article. Rivals took all of the teams in the nation. Where they start vs where they finish and LSU under Miles is one of the most overrated teams in the nation. To say he exceeds expectations is laughable.

He had to have SOME leverage right?
yes, his leverage is his record, the recruiting pipeline and the knowledge that, if he left, LSU would end up having to decide between Houston Nutt and Tommy Tuberville as it's next coach

Of course he would be. LSU is a marquee job, despite the catastrophe syndrome grumblings of the pessimists on this board. Facilities, monetary commitment, fan base, captive recruiting base.
He was never going to lowly Arkansas.

LSU under Les Miles is one of the most overrated teams in the nation. Rivals did an article a while back. Les disappoints yearly, finishing lower than where he starts in the preseason.
When your fanbase expects to never lose a game its hard not to disappoint.

Go back the last ten yrs and take the preseason top 5 every year. then chart where they finish the year. i'd be willing to bet most years that 3-4 teams finishng top 5 werent in the preseason top 5.
just this year you had michigan, oregon, usc, florida state, oklahoma, west virginia, all talked about in that top 5. LSU too. but if LSU wins their bowl game, they will be close. and that's with the injuries, honey badger, etc.

according to this site, LINK, LSU under Miles has finished post-season vs. pre-season...
2005 +1
2006 +6
2007 +1
2008 -17
2009 -7
2010 +11
2011 +3
So I'd say Rivals is full of shite...

Wow..Holy fricking shite. Kinda hard to finish above expectiations when you are picked pre-season number 1 or 2 isn't it? Well, if Leslie himself had come out and set that expectation publicly, then it would be a "disappointing season". But he did NOT set that expectation. A bunch of voters and pollsters did. And the fans bought it. I think 10-2 was one hell of a season considering we were breaking in a new QB and had OL problems. So if you want to call LSU overrated based on ridiculous expectations from those on the outside, then go ahead.

Really? His record isn't LEVERAGE. He is doing what he was under contract to do already.
Leverage is this: had Les not gotten what he wanted he would have...
A. Left for some school - which one and why? He just said he would be foolish to leave
B. Quit coaching and retire
C. Take it up the arse
A and B are leverage
C is a bluff

2008 and 2009 ruined everything for LSU in that study. This past season was his best coaching job since being at LSU IMO, outside of 3 calls in the Bama game. At least he let it all hang out though. I'll take Lesticles over conservative Les any day.

I think when some people who post on the Rant regularly look at Les's success, they are jealous and angry, particularly if they are living in their mother's basement

Jealousy and class envy will make any person look like a fricking child.

one's current performance vs. the possible change in performance if he left is certainly leverage, either one way or the other...
