Formations were similar, but routes, timing and execution in the passing game was improved. LSU didn't try and run outside very often, and I think they will start soon. We didn't see a single option that I remember, no toss dives, and no swing passes to the RBs that I remember. I think the toss dive will make a come back, and the RBs will improve in their role in the passing game.

Formations will start to spread out. TCU loaded the box the whole game and it required more protection from backs and TEs, but with an accurate confident passer, you just can't sell-out against the run the whole game. This is why the TEs and RBs were non-existent in the passing game. Too much commotion for the screens to develop, and extra blockers needed on passing downs.

minus the inside running game, virtually everything was different than last year, especially the passing game. No toss leads, ran more draws, added the handoff from the shotgun. In the passing game most all of the route combos were new.

There's a bunch of gray area between 10 plays and 100 plays-that LSU sits in.

Still no red zone offense. Field goals are not going to work with our schedule. We are going to have to score more td"s!

For example, will teams double team Landry on third downs

Ok, so then they throw to OBJ or a TE. What's the problem?

We didn't see any bubble screens or passes to TEs and backs.

We've seen a million bubble screens in the last 7 years, and people bitch. 3-4 I Metts incompletes were RB screens that he threw away. Again what's the problem?

You do realize that he isn't on a throw it all out there in week one right? He's not going to put everything on film from the get go.

Did you go to the game? Reason I ask is how could you tell the routes were different?

I think the glaring difference I saw from this year and last year was in mett. He threw the ball away when the play wasn't there. He has obviously received some better coaching. As far as the philosophy of the offense I still saw the mentality of " hey we are running off tackle try and stop us".

I really don't think the red zone offense was as bad as everyone is saying. Two of the passes in the red zone were PI, that were not called. Both would have been touchdowns. If the refs had a brain, we would not be having this conversation.

Refs in the SEC would have made the call both times.

What you might see is that teams stop pushing 8 in the box. When that happens, the running game could become deadly.

That's when this offense goes from good to great.

So completely different than the Bama game? I doubt anyone on here could watch the Bama game and tcu game a notice enough of a difference to say those are 3 different offenses.

Also did you go to the game or watch on tv?

I think that the offense adjusts as defenses adjust. If they double the wideouts you hit the tightend

They didn't run a lot of combo deep routes with the slot and wideout last year. These put pressure on the coverage to choose which WR for safety help over the top. If the safety chooses slot receiver it gives the wideout plenty of room and visa versa.

Usually, last year, you would see a slot or wideout cut a route in or out between 10-20 yards while the other WR would continue down the field, but now you see both WRs stretching the safety on the field side. With an accurate passer it gives him confidence to watch the safety and make an easy decision. Mett was spot on.

Well, for starters TCU was playing the run bringing guys up to the line, daring LSU to throw. LSU threw the ball very well.

So I guess teams should know now that if you bring 8 or 9 in the box, LSU will throw it over your head.

We will always be a power running team and opposing defenses will try to make us beat them with the pass. As long as we continue to run double te I formation sets teams will always have 8-9 men in the box. Just saying we could run from 3 wides more.

Now that they've seen Cam's offense, they'll know not to stack the box.

This. Previously defense would stack the box and dare us to pass. The difference is execution, fewer dropped passes, better accuracy, and better separation from defeneder. Stack the box and we will burn you with the pass, no longer one dimensional predicatable LSU defense got to be prepared for pass or run not set in stone every damn down as to what the play call will be. Throw in some passes to TE and RB out of the backfield and we gonna be scary good.

looks like the rantards are having a harder time adjusting to our new offense than our offense adjusting to the new offense.
