Pro Football Focus grades from the bowl game for the offense show we had very poor run blocking for the game. It's no wonder O decided to kick the field goal instead of going for it on 4th down. Scale is based on top score on 100.
LINK

Player Snaps Run Block
C Will Clapp 76 81.1
T Toby Weathersby 76 40.8
T K.J. Malone 34 38.4
G Edward Ingram 76 38.2
T Saahdiq Charles 42 71.9
G Garrett Brumfield 76 33.2

Can't get the formatting to work. First number is number of snaps/plays. Second number is the Run block grade.

going for it is always the right call unless there was less than 30 seconds on the clock

Yes I'm sure he was John Nashing these numbers in his head and that's why he chose to kick the FG. You're giving him too much credit.

How exactly did we score our second touchdown?

Yeah 2 minutes is a lot of time.

Go for it do you don’t make it they’ve got the ball in “don’t get a safety” territory, and enough time for us to get the ball back.

Make the 2 chip shot field goals and we wouldn't even be discussing this......

That was the only call. Period. You go up by three with two minutes remaining. Your DC blows it and gets a 70% pay increase. Only in America.

Every coach would have taken the points and every fanbase would have melted over it.

It's why we are mostly all fans and not coaches.

So, maybe, we run play action and throw to Moreau or Guice for the TD? Kind of negates the need for run blocking.

You have 3 of your 5 lineman failing to block adequately for the entire game. It has to be obvious (even to O) that the line wasn't getting the job done. Kick the field goal and turn it over to the defense. Defense was supposed to be our strength.

you mean increase the predictability?????? ok

4th and an inch you run it every fricking time from the inception of the game until ever more. if you pass on 4th and an inch, you deserve to lose

kick or run......only options

I understand why he went for it too. He was overly fearful of the negative outcome. It wasn't the percentage play.

Seriously?

Receiver had a corner & safety on him, pushes Donte Jackson to the ground & makes a one handed catch. But that TD is on Aranda?

Also even if you don’t get it they are in incredibly dangerous territory

I was screaming to go for it, but either decision is fine. Sometimes shite doesnt work out like you planned. It happens.

Got stuffed earlier in the game, I can see the hesitation.

The call was correct, he went back to man to prevent anymore soft yardage.
