We saw some hurry up last night. And it was very effective. We were playing against the worst team in the country, though. We tried hurry up early in the Arkansas game and it didn't work so we switched to a power run.

Why didn't it work? There are many reasons probably. Our oline is not good. Arkansas was able to get to Burrow pretty easy. But what are we doing to try and counter that?

Well we tried some screens, and they failed miserably. So we abandoned all of it and just ran the ball. It worked for the most part against them. We won and got out of the game.

But that's not going to work against the better teams. We need help in our scheme for when it doesn't. O said in the Florida game that they tried every protection they knew and it didn't work. It still doesn't work (as you can see from the Arkansas game).

So, a couple of things I've gathered from the last two weeks that I'm happy about? I think I've realised that O does in fact want a modern offense. He just needs the right person to implement it. I hope we get that person this offseason. And I think we need someone that is able to run, teach, and implement multiple schemes.

We are getting Sean Salisbury as either a coach or analyst

When you can't run screens successfully against Arkansas and Rice, you have major issues.

Many teams use the hurry up and a spread out, dependent on timing passing game to cover up ineffective and undersized offensive lines.

The oline issues can be schemed around.

I agree. And I think that's our biggest scheme failure.

Then why hire Ensminger? To save money? Because saving money and winning doesn't go together.

Quit making excuses for Orgeron. He’s had two tries to hire an offensive coordinator. He’s had unlimited money to make it happen. Ensminger is the guy he wanted. End of story. This is the offense O wants.

Money is possibly an issue. I don't agree that hiring SE was the right move. I don't know why he did it.

But based off of what I've seen, I think he wants a modern offense. He just doesn't have the right person to do it.

No he doesn't. If he did, he wouldn't have hired Ensminger.

Him not having the right person the job is 10000000% his own fault.

I'm not making an excuse for O. He has failed twice in the hiring of his OC's.

LSU wants to run the spread but does not want to commit to it. They just want to put their toe in the water so to speak. If you are going to put your QB back behind the line with no backs for pass protection you have to be ready to let it fly quick. You dont have 5 sec to wait for receivers to make a triple move and get 20 yds down field before you throw it. First time we get a sack we go back in the turtle shell.

Then why are we trying spread and hurry up concepts? This is not a traditional pro style offense. It's just a poor multiple scheme offense.

You mean the guy that Orgeron isnt afraid that will take his job?

We already have that guy, his name is Ensminger.

No, I think the up-tempo, spread out offense is what O wants.

I think he went to Ensminger to make it happen. Ensminger has not made it happen.

I also think a change is coming this year. Winning > public perception

I agree 100%. You said it a lot better and easier than I could.

Not saying you are, but your post make it sound like you are. Other than the Georgia game and a few quarters here and there, this years offense sucks.

And that's 100% o's fault.

I personally don't think hiring Canada was a mistake. I think it was a mistake on o's part not to let Canada run his offense unfettered. But he couldn't let his ego allow Canada to have free reign last year. And nobody (to my knowledge) held a gun to o's head and forced him to hire Ensminger.

What are both of you calling a modern offense?

I swear, 90% of the people bitching about the type of offense only look at results. There's no other explanation for the ignorant crap posted on here.

Thanks.

I'm giving O the benefit of the doubt. The offense is terrible. We can see what LSU wants to do, but they're failing to do it effectively.

I believe O will make a change this off-season. I think he'll make that change because he wants LSU to be a great team on both sides of the ball. I believe that.

... time will tell if I'm right or not.

I think he wants to keep the job longterm. And you won't beat Saban with a traditional pro-style unless you have an OL 2-deep made up entirely of high draft choices.
