it's taking me some time to get used to this D. I guess I was just spoiled when we used to pressure the q.b. Gonna have to get used to these sacks being credited to coverage more than pressure.

oh well.........

Dude, it's the second game after a major philosophical defensive change.

I'm not worried about Aranda - the defense already looked much improved from last year.

Dude, let me try to put this into perspective for you. First year DC, different scheme, yet first two games allowed 16 and 13 points.(Never held an opponent under 20 all of last season) The sacks will come as Aranda continues to implement more blitzes. There's been blown coverages, but that will get better. This defense will be the only thing we will be excited about going forward.

This defense has given up 14.5 points so far in 2 games after being left on the field an extraordinary amount of time in the Wisky game (16 points) and a high powered JSU team (13 points) which is loaded with D1 talent transfers, all the while learning the 3-4 scheme...

There will be more blitz packages against State.
Seems that offense and defense hold back wrinkles until conf play.
This year, we showed some offense in second quarter we probably would not have under ordinary circumstances.
LEs was forced to do so in order to be assured he would be around when SEC play begins.

As teams move more towards spread, they tend to hold on to the ball a little less so sacks you're accustomed to will be harder to come by. You'll see more DBs in the game than you use to. Sacks will be more coverage sacks or a DE/LB/CB catching a QB in space that had rolled out. Football has changed.

Just my $0.02.

the offense constantly going 3 and out and not giving the defense time to rest and they end up tiring out which leads to miss tackles, missed assignments, or not getting to the play as quickly as you would have earlier in the game...

learning a new 3-4 scheme and missing assignments...

It's not hard to figure out...
