I see CJJ has padded the basketball schedule for this year.

We've got powerhouses like Wofford and North Florida on the home slate. Not to mention another RIVETNG home weekend vs North Carolina Central and Texas Southern.

Better win the cupcakes if you're going to schedule them to save your arse.

Thank god we have a Tournament in there but damn the rest of the non-conference is awful.

Dont sleep on Wofford and NC Central

Those teams were pretty good a couple years ago, see they sucked last year but you never know

There is not one home marquee OOC game this year. That's bad. Really bad.

There never is unless its in the Big 12-SEC Challenge. And those games are scheduled by the respective league offices.

Men's and women's Basketball

Similar here, but slide Men's Golf and Gymnastics in there somewhere. Gotta give props to the successful "smaller" sports that make me want to follow them.

There isn't? Good God.

I just hope Blakeney and Victor are a force and we play competitive, winning basketball.

We've had a few recently. Marquette off the top of my head. I guess since the hot seat is burning a hole now CJJ is playing it safe.

This is very frustrating, mainly because it is a pattern. This year's team will not be good anyway, but having a terrible non-conference SOS is great way to remove yourself from any chance of making the postseason.

I think we are gonna be better on offense this season. More ball movement & better efficiency. Hopefully Reath is the rim protector he is supposed to be on D.

Cant believe CJJ kept his job last year. I would argue he is more incompetent than Les. I guess if you are an Alleva hire you get a little more rope?

If Johnny could win 19-21 games this season and flip the WKU commits, I'd shockingly say keep him for one more season and see what happens. If he can't take Mitchell Robinson from Stansburry then can him anyway.

That's the kind of thinking that got us in this mess in the first place. He needs to be fired yesterday. If he cant make the NCAA tournament with the best player in the country something is terribly wrong.

Fans had ridiculous lofty expectations last season but it looks like its starting to creep back up again.

Since John Brady left these have been the big non-conference home games on the schedule (that were not part of the SEC-Big 12 or SEC-Big East challenges)

2015-16 Wake Forest?
2014-15 Texas Tech?
2013-14 None
2012-13 None
2011-12 Virginia & Marquette (Both Ranked)
2010-11 None
2009-10 Utah?
2008-09 None

That is what i call fricking pathetic.

i think he should have been fired last season too, especially when a lot of promising up-and-comers were snatched up last off-season. Still, I'm assuming he wins 20 games with this roster and locks what would be a top 15 class. That's pretty high expectations that I think have to happen for him to deserve to stay.

I doubt he accomplishes what I typed above.

Even with his most hyped team (on paper), Jones put together a dog shite schedule last season. I said that 3 months before last season that the schedule was horrible and got blasted for it.

Poor OOC scheduling is unexcusable. It...

(A) leaves you no margin of error going into conf. play (especially if you lose a few OOC games like last season)

(B) builds no excitement for your program in first two months of the season. Casual basketball fans aren't showing up to watch LSU battle the North Florida's and SWAC/MEAC schools of the world.

LSU's best season in the last 20 years was 05-06. That team was 8-5 going into SEC play. However, they were battle tested from games against West Virginia, Northern Iowa, Cincinnati, Ohio State, UConn.

Dale didn't hide from big OOC matchups. Jones has to be forced into them.

Also I'm curious if Alleva is even going to want to search for a new MBB coach this season with Les fired. I think Alleva also fires at least one of Fran Flory and Lee (soccer coach).

Believe it or not I think Caldwell makes the tournament and keeps her job.
