ESPN loves LSU.

Les is gone. Great OC hire. We maintained a great DC. We have great talent. We have a senior QB.

Playoff here we come!

You have no idea what you just started with this simple fact. Get ready.

Regarding LSU, Herb has remained objective - I'm taking this as a good sign.

I agree. On paper, I think we have a good shot to make the playoff. I haven't been this excited for LSU football to start in awhile.

Agreed. Just not having to hear the same lie about new offense every offseason only to be disappointed is refreshing.

He has a rather simple formula. The winner of the SEC will be in the final four.
The winner of the SEC will come from the SEC west.
The winner of the SEC west will come down to two teams. Who are those teams?

Herbie thinks LSU and Bama

How do we look like a top 4 team on paper?

Average QB with terribly unknown depth

Unproven at WR with a lot of young guys learning a new system

Unproven at LB, starting a lot of new guys, no proven depth, and used walk-ons during spring

Unproven safety's, and DB's in general, with one returning player (who has had ups and downs and missed a lot of spring with track)

An OL that had a walk-on at center during the spring

Look, I'm excited for the season as well. And I sure hope you are right. But "on paper" this team has a lot of problems to overcome and certainly does not look at a top 4 team at this point.

A lot of problems to overcome? Lol.

Its amazing how the talent lsu has just left with miles. Lsu is as talented as any teamin cfb not named bama.

Cushenberry is on scholarship, but he didn't get any offers from another SEC school. Was strictly one of those last minute "Panic" scholarship offers by Grimes. Not SEC caliber. (As many of the OL's on the current roster aren't}

If Clapp goes down, this team is in major trouble with no competent back-up Center. OL is definitely the weak link on the team.

Not sure if Grimes is what we need to get the OL up to SEC Championship standards. (From a coaching scheme and recruiting point of view) Let's see what happens without LM micro-management interference.............

Don't know what spring you watched but Cushenberry received a ton of praise for his ability to quickly adapt and he plays very physical.

It seems like he does this every year. LSU is usually overrated by most prognosticators, but Herbstreit just seems never to learn.

I'll say this. If Herbstreit is right in this pick, then Orgeron should be in the mix for COTY honors at least in the SEC and maybe in the country.

Wait, this is a recipe for championships at Bama. Can't work here?

I think, again, if you look at the situation objectively you would find:

1. We have struggled for many years recruiting the LB position.
2. We have struggled for even many more years recruiting the QB position (clearly the most important position on the team)
3. Since Guice, what legitimate RB's have we signed?
4. Similar arguments could be made at other positions

Combine this with;

LSU loosing 13 players to the draft with a few others graduating

And you get,

A depleted roster with a lot of unproven players (and first time starters) with a ton of significant gaps at some pretty important positions, and unproven depth. How can you see this any differently?
