After the HR, the prospect of extra innings would have ruined his night

Balanced by 20 complaints about the ump, Nolan Cain, and the late start time, and 10 calls of "pop ups" being caught on the warning track.

I've listened to several games this year and completely disagree with you. Blair is great. Hawthorne had gotten to the point of being practically un-listenable.

Blair just doesn't have it...maybe it will come with time but it seems forced. He also waits about 2 seconds to make the call. Of course a lot of dumbasses on here love him and think he is a pro b/c of their irrational hate for JH

Or because he actually does a good job calling the games, unlike hawthorne

Completely agree.

I don't hate him but some things like the delayed calls aggravate the shite out of me. You hear the crowd react or the catcher's mitt pop and he doesn't say what happened until 5 seconds later.

Also, the "Tigers win, Tigers win" following every game we win pisses me off. He says it with no enthusiasm whatsoever.

How so? He waits for the play to happen before he calls it...not exactly a great attribute for a PBP guy.

I dot hate Blair but I just grew accustomed to JH making the calls no matter how stupid he sounded sometimes.

me either I just think it's hilarious some on here believe he is better than JH. Just gives an idea of how clueless some of our fans are. Blair has made tons of mistakes this year and has been boring to boot...yet he is the ultimate professional

He accurately describes what is happening in the game. Could he be a little quicker? Sure. That'll likely come with time.

It is still 100x better than Hawthorne trying to predict what is going to happen on a play and consistently being completely wrong.

Can you imagine having to listen to JH when we were down 4-0?
