I love LSU football and always will. In the past, I would be all over this kind of situation and be really interested. Now, I am just observing somewhat disinterestedly. I like Les as a man and respect what he has done here. But, I have no hope that he will improve the team and no hope that if he is fired that we will make a great hire.

I have just kind of given up and am in a "believe it when I see it" mindset.

If that is not a sign that a coach has lost the fanbase, I don't know what is. I do not even have the hope to be mad anymore. I just assume that I will be disappointed so why bother getting worked up over it?

It is a terrible place to be, but it didn't happen overnight.

Something to think about as I'm driving on I-49 somewhere between Shreveport and Minneapolis.

Yeah, I mean I still care, obviously. I mean that I am not all emotionally invested like I have been in the past. Kind of just waiting to see what happens.

That's just crazy talk. You care. You're just deflated like most of us.

Unless you're one of the TAF big swinging dicks, the only rational thing is to stand by and observe, because we sure as hell don't have any influence on what will happen.

You're not forced to watch. If you don't care to watch, then don't. Bone of the rest would never know or care if you didn't choose to be a drama queen. I couldn't care less if you watch the game, nor will anyone else

Right there with you. That's where we are headed. I am an lsu fanatic. That means I want to compete for conference championships every year. I know we can't win them every year.
When we are outplayed, I have no problem reconciling the loss.

But we aren't just flat out being beaten by superior teams. We are looking like total shite in multiple games. It is inept. Our recent conference record is gay.

Keep repeating that pattern, and you will get a complacent fan base that mails it in each week.

I'm a season ticket holder. I go to every game. I stay til the end. I drink booze. I tigerbait visitors. I yell at the opposing offense. And I honestly expect to see my team give their very best effort each week. For some reason, the head coach isn't delivering on that front.

That's not true.

He just described a large part of the fanbase. The part that really makes a difference. I own 9 season tickets, and had no intention of using any of them Saturday, until I decided to pay my respects to Coach Miles.

The season ticket holders I spoke to today said the same thing. Only going b/c it will be his last game.

The 2 mil we pay over the next 8 years will hardly be felt by the excitement a new coach will generate, esp one of his caliber. You are talking about a 100+ mil per yr operation. This move is necessary in order to continue the revenue that the program needs.

They are not blind. The apathy is overwhelming. It is exactly what brought about this change.

Whatever, man. My post was a commentary on what this whole thing has done to my fandom. It just occurred to me that things will never change. Les will make poor hires, recruiting will be uneven, the offense will stink, and the ceiling is 8-4 or 9-3 from now on under him.

I can respect him/admire him and see the truth.

I 100% agree. You described exactly what I'm feeling. I went from being the most optimistic fan to just a curious observer. I don't even know what I want to happen anymore? and to be honest I still don't think I will get excited about any result until next November..
