I have total faith J.A. will hire someone with a great resume

Every Hire he has made looked like a home run on paper at the time of the hire.
1)Trent Johnson just came off a sweet sixteen performance. He had been coach of the year at Stanford and Nevada.
2)N. Caldwell has a number 1 recruiting class, had u.c.l.a. in the top 20 and looked like a rising star.
3) Patrick Murphy had w.c.w.s. appearance, a n.c., and he bailed after the presser.
4) Beth torina was unknown and turned out to be the best of them all.
5) The powers that be wanted to give Jones a shot to bring back the dale brown magic after Johnson failed. he gave them their man.
So, what we learned is Joe does go after the big resume fish and has gotten better than what we thought we could at the time. (for the exception of Jones) Hindsight, some haven't worked out.
It's not always the glittering fish that is the right hire. If you go back to 2000, the fan base wanted Dennis Erickson. He was the steak that had won a n.c. at Miami. We got Nick Saban, who nobody knew. In 2004, The fan base wanted Jack del rio, we got miles.
I will say this, and it will not be popular, but I have more faith in J.A. hiring the next football coach than I did with Skip Bertman. Now, it may not work out as we have seen. However, I do believe it will be someone with a great resume. All the hires outside of Jones looked great on paper at the time they were hired.

Don't count out Ed Orgeron. This team may respond and we could go on a nice run. And save several million dollars a year.

I'm hopeful that the administration isn't thinking in these terms.
You go out and get the best coach possible. Period. If there is a realistic chance of reeling in Jimbo or Herman, you do it, even if Coach O goes 7-1. Being a stand in coach for 8 games isn't the same as managing a program year after year.

I agree. He's killed(at the time) every hire he's made save Jones. And it's not like he'll have complete autonomy--there will be others involved, though that may or may not be a good thing.

Johnson and Caldwell on paper were great hires, some people just don't pan out like you want them to.

They have plenty of time to find the right guy.
Be patient and interview all interested coaches.
No need to rush.

The only good hire he has made is softball.

are you saying the one's he hired did not have great resume's?
Notice it didn't say he hired all great coaches. The people he has hired all looked good on paper at the time.
so he hires herman. herman fails, everyone going to make fun of him for hiring herman?

It's been my experience in life that you usually get what you pay for.

Well, that eliminates Mr. Herman.
