What superior coach ? This years flavor of the month Tom Hermann? I seem to remember Muschamp and Malzahn both being flavored of the month about five years ago. One has been fired and one will be . I never have understood the mentality of rejuvenation and reinvigoration from fan bases (all schools ) from the action of the school ( firing a long time head football coach) that has an 83% failure rate . Rarely does a school get it right the first hire after a long term coach is dismissed yet everyone wants to jump on that fire that guy mentality.
We need the right hire! I guess no one else in college football has figured that out , only LSU
We have the facilities... We have the recruiting base .... Etc etc etc
83% failure rate!!!!! 83 freaking percent That's the opposite of Russian roulette. Put five bullets in the gun one blank put it to your head and pull the trigger If you don't blow your head off , you just hired a coach that makes it
First of all, take a breath and take your meds. Second, we don't need the flavor of the month. Les miles has proven himself to be a below average game day coach. He has superior talent which is a credit to him, but he doesn't put his players in the best position to win.
We need a coach that will maximize this talent and miles is not that coach. Other coaches know that there is not another major college program within 5 hours of baton rouge and that is rare when attracting local talent. That along with the proximity to texas. LSU will find a replacement better than miles.

I like you Cliff. I'm with you on this.
Les is going to pull a master troll of this fanbase by winning the SEC this year and then leaving for Texas A&M, where he'll dominate us until he retires.

Yes! And besides, we need to keep Les Bc it'd mess up the recruiting class to replace him! It's all about recruiting. That's what it's all about! Recruiting! Yay!
Um no. Recruits do not commit here just because of Les. They commit here because of relationships with the position coaches and other players as well as it being LSU and playing in the SEC and playing on tv and the potential to get to the next level.
Les ain't the reason these recruits commit. They replace Les with Jimbo and all those recruits will stay committed

I don't think he leaves if not fired
he is on a hot seat and I will just watch it all
let's just beat Auburn

By that rationale what did Miles do at Oklahoma State that was so great? He was an average to just above average coach that did have a few good moments. Therefore, how can you also not say there's a bunch of coaches that would have achieved what Les has.

I didn't even read your post and I down voted based on thread title alone

Don't need any meds . Here are the facts
Notice these are all big time power schools , not ball states or Rutgers .
Tennessee fired Fulmer after 17 seasons because of a bad year , a year after a sec championship game appearance . They are currently on coach number three post Fulmer and no high school senior today remembers Tennessee being worth a flip
Auburn fires a guy who had beaten Alabama six times in a row after one bad year . They are about to get rid of coach number two post Tubberville
Florida hires the flavor of the month in Muschamp to replace Meyer . They are now on coach number 2 post Meyer and after Spurrier it was Ron Zook 0-2
The biggest baddest boy on the block , Alabama , couldn't even get it right. It took them five coaches to get from Stallings to Saban
Nebraska post Osborne. A joke
USC post Carroll a joke
We fire Miles what happens? Probability is within five years we are firing the guy who replaced Miles. 83% probability. 41% we don't get it right on coach number two. That puts us a decade out on coach number three
all of us as LSU fans are saying we ain't getting on that hiring and firing train . We know what we are doing . We are the one university in the u s that knows we have to make the"right" hire . In the end it's like Jews getting on a train bound for Aushwitz and the gas chambers and we are all saying we are off to new lives in the east being resettled .

I love les but to me it's all about this year. Harris wasn't the answer but he got etling his shot and so far so good. The D is legit and our defensive staff is legit. Don't wanna see a new coach bring in new guys. Plus we have best qb recruit since Periloux along with an elite class. Consider how many key players we lose? Last year would have been better time to make a change. With that said les needs to prove he's still got some left in the tank. He needs to win at least 10 and not shite the bed in nov. if we lose 3 more games then maybe it's time. If he opens up with etling has a good year best case is comeback next year to finish career lock in this recruiting class which is crucial for Lsu to reload and bring in a young gun for 2018 season.

What about fla st replacing bowden with fisher, Ohio st replacing tressel with meyer? You see it works both ways. Just because the programs you mentioned replaced their coaches with bad hires doesn't mean LSU will. Why don't you calculate those percentages?

Meyer didn't replace Tressel . He replaced the coach who replaced Tressel. And you are correct about Fisher. And therein lies the rub Fisher was on Bowdens staff . Fla state didn't blow up the program. The few successes that there are. Usually come from a school who turns over the reins to someone on the staff

I'm not going to count the interm coach at ohio st in between tressel and meyer. Meyer was next next head coach hire after tressel, the other guy was a replacement because tressel got run off late in the process so yes, meyer replaced teessel.

Thanks for explaining which each coaches position is

These are the percentages . First hire after long time head coach at big schools. Let's look at the sec. Tennessee. 1-1. Majors to Fulmer coup de tat success. Fulmer to Kiffen failure. Florida Spurrier to Zook and Meyer to Muschamp 0-2. Bama Bryant - Perkins 0-1 Stallings to Dubose 0-2. Auburn shug Jordan to Barfield. Massive fail. Dye to Baby Bowden fail. Tubberville to Chizik fail 0-3. Georgia. Butts to the knucklehead before Dooley. Fail Dooley to Goff fail. Richt to Smart ? Jury out on that one Georgia so far 0-2 LSU 0-1 after McClendon to Rein/Stovall . Those are the big six in the sec 1 success in 12 tries
