It's crazy how contradictory the criticism of Simmons is

Do you think his play this season was what you would expect from a guy talented enough to me talked about as the #1 pick in the NBA draft?

He definitely showed what he could be with the right coaching, yes, but that's not really what I meant.

I was referring to him being called selfish/too unselfish simultaneously

Somebody disagrees with you and that is the reason LSU doesn't deserve big time recruits? Lol.

Ben Simmons was and is for Ben Simmons... he had no loyalty and could give a shite about LSU... completely opposite of Shaq!

Here's a secret, Johnny Jones could have a team of 5 McDonald's all Americans and find a way to underachieve. Hell, in a relatively weak SEC it took having two 1st team All SEC forwards (Mickey and Martin) and a buzzer beater at Arkansas for him to barely get into the NCAAT. But hey, lets continue to blame everything on the guy who:

A. Never wavered on coming to a mediocre LSU program despite the fact that every other powerhouse in the nation wanted him, and...

B. Put up a better overall stat line than any other LSU player in the last 20+ years.

Holy hell what a perfect post.

First, NBA teams aren't as interested in what a player is now. They're more interested in what a prospect can become down the line. But yes, Simmons' play this past season is what I would expect from a guy talented enough to be talked about at the #1 pick. Especially when you consider some previous No.1 picks.

He averaged more ppg, rpg, and apg that Anthony Bennett (2013 No. 1 pick). Kyrie Irving only played 11 games for Duke and was the No. 1 pick. Lebron James, Dwight Howard and Kwame Brown didn't even play college basketball. Simmons would have likely been a top 5 pick in last year's draft had he skipped college. You have to look at his skillset, not production. That's what NBA scouts do

If Simmons had played for Duke, UK, UNC, he could have had slightly worse numbers than he did at LSU and people would be talking raving about him having an all-time great season. Instead, he get dragged down by the fact that he played for an completely incompetent coach. One who has never won anything of real note in his entire career.

Tune in to the NBA draft and you'll hear the analyst ask the same question they asked last year when LSU had two guys go in the top 33 -- How was LSU not better with the talent on their roster? Unless you have your head up your arse, the answer stands on the sidelines stoically staring off into space while his team looks like an unorganized mess

The Sixers, sources said, came away impressed by the 20 pounds of muscle Simmons is said to have added to his physique since the end of the college season

First off, you might want to provide a link.

Secondly, the More Sports Board has already covered how much bullshite is involved with this story.

No athlete, regardless of resistance training experience or volume accumulation, on juice or otherwise could gain 20 pounds of muscle in three months.

1 its basketball

3 dont care, its basketball and he barely stayed one season

At the end of the day, he did what every major player woudl do, and he did it at LSU.

HE should LSU 1000000000x the loyalty that the fans have shown him

Are Football players who only stay 3 years "not really LSU Players" because they left first chance they got?

The Ben Simmons hate is fricking insane to me.

What one and done player has ANY loyalty for the school that they are using for the obligatory 1 year transition?

Back to mediocrity, folks. Nothing more to see here.

I hope Antonio puts on some weight this offseason too. I'd also like to see Robinson lose a little more weight and be able to sprint up and down the court wth the rest of them

I am pretty sure Shaq left as soon as he was eligible to.

I think the extra size is important in showing his genetics to the NBA (ie he can add weight and doesn't have the Mingo metabolism) more than anything.

Is the nba draft slotted like the NFL is as far as payouts go?? What's the difference between being the 1, 2, or 3 picks?

If you take steroids you can put on 10 lbs in 10 days. You take two weeks off steroids and repeat.

From phone replying to person says you can't put on 20 in month.

What you said is all true, but basketball is a TEAM sport and Ben's numbers did nothing to get us to the post season. He'll go down as a prolific player in our basketball program's history but wont be idolized like CJ or Shaq.

Magic Johnson and Lebron couldnt shoot for shite coming into the league. Id rather have a 6'10 guy that can take people of the dribble and finish at the rim with either hand. He can develop a decent jumper with practice.
