Amazing. I knew a good bit of the story, and I was at the game when the reins were announced last year (great standing ovation for them). But that was a heartbreaking story.

Yeah, I cried a bit.

Sounds like he was destined to be one of the greats. RIP Bo

I watched it for the first time tonight too. Such a sad story.

No disrespect to the man or his family. But he was 60% as a head coach. Mike Archer was 58%, Gerri DiNardo was 60%. I think he would have been asked to leave after a few years. Again, no disrespect.

I understand your point, but his sample size as HC was relatively small and he was .600 at a basketball school where the football program has hovered around .500 all time.

I obviously can't say he would've been great, but there's no way to say he would not have been. Thus the tragedy of his story; no one knows.

Yeah, not all situations are the same. Miles was at 58% before he came to LSU. I think he has won 78% of his games at LSU. Kids want to come to LSU and you have a lot more talent to recruit from in this area. If Bo was successful at a school not focused on football, he most likely would have been much more successful at LSU.

Right. Also consider the Bear era was winding down at Bama and Dye didn't arrive at Auburn until a year later. Dooley won the NC at UGA in '80, but the window was open for Bo to build something there if he had a fast start.

That was a very powerful scene when they showed the fans in Tiger Stadium cheering for his wife and daughter.

It was good! I had know idea he was under Woody Hayes, and Lou Holtz. Also coached with Jimmy Johnson. There are no guarantees in life but it would be a safe bet to think he would have made LSU great in the 80's and 90's. We would been like Nebraska running option a lot.
