just reading between the lines and all the material I can I think there are plenty of people that want miles to be given one more year. there's a case for that....

1-a settlement might be able to be reached giving LSU (TAF) a financial break

2-recruiting

3-giving him a farewell tour. many feel he deserves that.

4-this team has a lot of babies. we had 3 freshmen on the line yesterday.

where I stand is not relevant so please don't call me names.

ultimately, while there are pluses and minuses to the one more year and then Miles retiring, I think there's a strong chance that can occur.

after all, LSU is a university with a football team. our program will be fine if he gets another year no matter the outcome.

For the good of the program, one more year. Go hire an innovative OC, and keep the recruiting class in tact.

Why? So you flush an entire season for that?

will the buyout limit what can be offered to the next staff? That is my only concern.

Plus TF at tight end--and isn't Mouton a freshman or sophomore? OM's more experienced defense pushed our kiddies around with ease last night.

I'm real uncomfortable with a farewell season. Players do it but rarely coaches. I know some have, including dale brown but the program was rock bttm at that point.

I'd be surprised if Les is here next year. And I've backed and defended him for years but it really seems the ball wont stop at this point

What OC of any quality is going to sign on for one year to be part of the "Farewell Tour"?

There is no more "one more year" due to the coordinator situation.

Miles is gone. It's over.

1. TAF is willing to spend the money.
2. Recruiting has its pros and cons. Recruits see what's happening right now. If Miles stays we are likely to lose some recruits, if he leaves we are likely to lose some recruits.
3. Sorry, but there are no feelings in football contract negotiations
4. We have youth on this team because kids constantly leave the program early, that's been the case for a while, so I don't see why this would buy Miles any time under the circumstances

The stuff with Alleva leaking the news to the press pretty much confirms that we have a plan in place and we're about to execute.

But why bring in an OC for one year? Who would want to sign up for that? Recruiting will take a hit not matter what. It's time to crap or get off the pot. Either we trust Miles can turn this around with a completely different staff, FYI we've seen that and it has had ups and downs, or we cut the cord and move on from Les.

I think you're right. The board wants him gone but the people empowered to make that decision are considering giving him a farewell season. It's a very precarious situation.

No "innovative OC" or any OC worth a crap, for that matter, is going to come here knowing Miles is out in a year if he was given one more year.

All of this is not that hard, people. The smoke is already out there and now that real talk of Miles' future is out there, you have to fire him. You will not get quality assistants to come here knowing the head coach is on a one-year ultimatum.

This thinking doesn't work. Fulmer tried this as a last resort his final year at UT. He hired an up and coming spread guy and gave him control of the offense. It was a complete and utter failure, and he still got fired, even after giving everyone what they wanted. He left a year later than he should have, after doing more damage. This is just a recipe for a bigger failure.

No, no he doesn't. The LSU program is bigger than Miles. He's not Joe Paterno or hell, even Mack Brown. He's coached a long time for LSU, but there have been plenty of coaches coach longer and had more successful careers than him.
