UK is the premier program in college basketball and has been for decades. If LSU is not as good as UK, well, NO ONE IS over time.

What LSU needs to strive for is to have teams that contend for the top 4 in the SEC every year. The key ingredient in that goal is sustained recruiting of good players. Donovan at UF has done that for a long time. That is what I want LSUMBB to do over 10-15 years.

Darcy is awful and he needs to develop another big man fast. That's my biggest complaint.

Or because its true. I love how "Johnny's a terrible coach" is all that people seem to post when he's losing while building a program from nothing and bringing in more talent than this school has seen in over twenty years. He's had improving recruiting classes since he's been here and all some can do is complain about his x's and o's. In five years he will be able to coach from the box and still win.

I know for a fact, that 99% of people saying he is a bad coach have no clue of what they speak of. His teams have not had great talent, nor have they played like it.

good grief, what an absurd excuse. JJ is the head coach, and he's responsible for the talent on his team. And he's also responsible for how they play, which is uninspired and undisciplined.

Good grief, you're right. And you shouldn't have to put up with this shite. Matter of fact, there is a team at TCU that plays disciplined and inspired and you should start following them. They have no fricking talent and never will but they have Trent..

He's not.....

Our fans biggest knock against him has been that his in-game coaching does not equal his recruiting.

But in college basketball today recruiting is as important as ever. I have personally witnessed him coaching and heard him speak. The man knows basketball and is a good coach. Every Division 1 basketball coach knows the game of basketball.

Very rarely do fans attribute any blame to players in losses and that is only natural. This is a football/baseball board and that is also okay, but when you have n influx after every loss of posters that complain, CJJ is not an "x's and o's" guy, you know they have no idea what they are talking about when discussing basketball.

Every year the program has grown and the team has gotten better, what more can you ask for as a fan? It is a lot more difficult as a Power-5 school to make the tourney than it was 30,20, even 10 years ago.

Every member of a team, especially basketball where you have so few members on a roster have a job and bring value. To be honest and by CJJ tone on certain guys and their minutes, right now our Tigers have some guys and have had some guys all year that do not understand or want to accept their role right now.

Team Strengths
+ Very athletic
+ Rebounding
+ Versatility
+ Great conditioning
Weaknesses
- Quality depth or a lack there of
- Streaky shooters as a team (3pt, FT)
- Leadership/inconsistency

Our 3 best players do not have the natural personalities to be outspoken leaders, but for our team to succeed someone has to step up and be the vocal leader. Josh I think still can be and is, but he emotionally he has to be better.

They also have not been at full strength all year, and you see how it affects anybody in the SEC just look at Bama today.

We as fans got caught up in looking towards the UK game when we still had MSU and Auburn, and I think our players did as well. Because free throws and unforced turnovers show a lack of attention to detail and focus.

I would just also like to add something that many fans probably have no idea. On each of our inbounds turnovers, a play was called. I know this for a fact. Fatigue is an issue, but there is no reason to just not run anything, and run what you want. CJJ has never instructed his guys to just get the ball in, there is an inbounds play called everytime. Where a lack of leadership comes in, is when guys just do what they want.

My last point, is please support the guys. Demeaning any of our players is wrong. They all try extremely hard when they are out there, calling any Tiger awful or he sucks is wrong, and you as a fan suck. Criticism is okay, but if you have to demean coaches and players that are Tigers to get your point across, go fu*k yourself and stop supporting. This team will make the tourney by the skin of their teeth, so get on board now, because some of us never left.

Quite a few of our fans cry "bad coach" every time we lose a game in any sport. For that matter, that is exclaimed even we win if the expert fans think that we should have won by a much larger margin than we did.

These idiots assume that the other teams are so inferior to us that they ought not even play the games.

I've already posted that Trent Johnson is an awful coach. JJ is an upgrade, at least from a recruiting perspective.

But JJ is a poor in-game coach. I noticed it since before this year, but it's becoming painfully evident this season, at least to any honest person who's paying attention.

All I meant in my post is that someone can't offer talent and performance as an excuse. Those two things are entirely within the control of a head coach - especially one who's in his third year at the helm.

Win as a team and you lose as a team.

We are not the only program in the conference or the country that has problems with consistency.

With the exception of UK and Florida. If you had to pick an SEC school to coach the remaining of this year and next year. Most coaches will choose LSU.

If you look at all of our SEC losses, one thing stands out and that is Josh Gray. Gray is the catalyst of our team. We will go as far as he takes us. Even if Patterson is starting and begins to have more minutes. If you do not have a steady leader at PG come March you have no shot. He is the key, they showed a graphic on ESPN with his numbers in our losses and in our wins and is the difference.

The team that played today will be tough for anyone to beat. But the team that played in Starkville can be beaten by anybody. When you have a team as athletic as we are sometimes it is hard to understand, athleticism alone in major college basketball will not solely win you games. If we played every game with the same level of focus and determination like we did against Alabama, we could make it to the Sweet 16, but we could and will lose to anybody, that's how much parody is in college basketball and the SEC now.
