We can sweep the series against Maryland and Wichita State but lose mid-week games against UNO.

TBH, our only loss this year should have been against TCU (they're a better team at the moment).

There's really no excuse except maybe we're not as good without Lange/Poche on the hill.

Just admit it. It's embarrassing to get swept by UNO and lose to fricking mcneese. We're supposed to be a CWS contender

This. Every year we fricking suck in the midweek games because we don't take them seriously.

Second, you obviously have never played or watch baseball a day in your life if you think teams are going to go out on a cold Wed night against fricking Southland Conference team

You forget that this is the same Southland Conference team that beat our asses not two or three weeks ago. It's a shitty attitude to have and I blame CPM. Why even play the game if you don't give a shite about the outcome? I don't have to have played baseball before to know that UNO was playing in the same conditions we played in and went out there and beat our asses twice in a row.

These games have a purpose or els why even schedule them

The purpose is to get inexperienced guys experience and to work on issues before league play.

Why do people keep saying this?

Yea 1 loss won't matter, 3 in a short period to teams we should beat is a problem if it continues. 3 turns to 5 and all of a sudden that shows in the body of work

LSU losing to a Southland Conference team is them beating our asses. It's not the same as us taking an SEC team to extras.

Exactly. When we are fighting for that last national seed (#8), better believe it's going to matter.

The SEC had 4 national seeds last year. What does that tell you?? That's how strong the conference is. All that matters is LSU winning conference games

These 3 losses will mean nothing in the end. How they do in SEC play is what matters. If last nights game was important don't you think we would have pitched one of our better bullpen arms late in the game? Or we could've saved Hess if it was important to win. These midweek games are simply used to get younger players more experience and figure out who you can rely on for the conference games. I don't understand why it's so hard to understand this concept. Someone posted earlier that the '97 team had 4 losses to to in state schools, 2 to UNO. Didn't hurt any. Didn't we lose once or twice to Nichols during the 2009 season?

If it wasn't expected to beat UNO whether we pitch our 3rd guy or our 9th guy, they'd prob take it more seriously. But they take it for granted that we can beat them, whether it's hunter Newman or Blair Frederick.

Yea I realize it's an audition for younger players. But these are guys that don't even sniff interest from southland schools because they are that good. UNO is a decent team but let's not act like we are playing this great squad. Our 1's & mix of secondary players should not lose to UNO twice

Nobody is melting over midweek games. My comment was, "I don't know what to think of this team." The consistency hasn't been there. Can't see how you can debate that?

Aside from Keli, the team played quite well for most of the game. Pitching-wise, LSU's bullpen was much better than the past few mid-week games (outside from LC). Stroll got the loss after giving up 4 runs. But he actually pitched well for 3.2 innings before giving up the go-ahead run. This was basically 14-innings of solid pitching from our non-weekend-starter pitching staff. That's very encouraging. We will need those types of performances later in the season. I'm less worried about or relief pitching than I was a week ago.

Three, and really four, of our five losses are against teams that on paper, shouldn't be beating us. This isn't a 162 game MLB schedule where those types of losses don't count all that much in the long run. However, in college baseball, those losses could be the difference between getting a national seed or not. In any case, with CPM as the head coach, we aren't winning another NC. Wanna know why? Because he has the same mindset Miles did, lazy, arrogant, and satisfied. Completely unwilling to change things to get better results.
