He might be a decent hire, but I'd much rather a young up-and-coming coach....Don't you dare hire Stansbury, Joe.

You want a younger coach. They could hire a dead coach and get better coaching than they have now.

I want our new "young" basketball coach to make the P-Mac great again.

The best young up and coming basketball coaches are going to go to a basketball school.

I'd be happy with Stansbury making LSU appealing for the next long-term coach.

Does it really matter? Just make it an intern project for extra credit and save the salary for football.

He's decent but I agree. I feel like he will just be average here. But knowing Alleva he will hire him because stansbury has those 2 kids from Louisiana committed to him at WK

I'd take Jackie Moon as an acceptable replacement.

Now weren't we told that Johnny was up and coming? Certainly not young for sure....but I believe I remember up and coming used to describe him.

I think LSU needs somebody to right the ship right now. Granted this person won't win a national championship (hell I'd be OK with him not making the Sweet 16 in his tenure) but we need somebody to clean up the mess that Johnny made on several fronts.

I think Stansbury could be that guy. I don't think he will be a long term solution but I'm not sure LSU could get a long term solution with where they are right now. We need a guy that is going to win enough games so that the admin will keep him around to bail out the rest of the water....then we can start to go for our young up and comer.

Tougher discussion there is how do we get out from under a guy like Stansbury that could turn LSU into a perennial tournament team and 2nd round knock out pretty quickly I think. It is hard to get out from under something like that if you are a basketball program like LSU, which is the case you would make for not doing in IMO.

If we hire Stansbury, we won't have the alumni game anymore! That would be devastating.

Stansbury would recruit pretty well and make the tournament most years.

We won't be a consistent top 15/20 team, but he could rebuild the program foundation.

With the condition of the program currently, we aren't going to get a hot up-and-coming name.

We currently have Johnny Jones as coach and are a Missouri away from being the worst team in the SEC, and we have people on here complaining about the possibility of replacing Jones with a guy who took an SEC team to the tournament in 80% of his 15 years there.

LSU fans... SMH.

I get what you all are saying about Stansbury, but it doesn't take long to turn a basketball team around with the right coach. The LSU job/rebuild could be really attractive to a good young coach. Joe would have to pay though. While Stansbury would obviously be worlds better than Johnny Jones, he'd still be just a meh hire.
