In the arena of hiring coaches, however, which is after all the subject of this thread, he has more than just a little credibility.

He misses on as many as he hits.

I hate seeing Alleva's smug face at all these tourney games.

While Foley has had some if time hires he also has some losers proving just how tough it is to make slam dunk move.

term "rebuilding" to be introduced after the final departures from this seasons team. JJ will get a pass on next season because it will be a "rebuilding" season...

No passes for rebuilding. It's college bb. Every year is practically a rebuilding year. He gets another year because he earned it after the first 3 and improving each one. I'm not a JJ fan. Never have been. He was forced on us and I blame the old line regime. He'll never win a tourney game. Won't even make it there next year and with 2 fails in a row will be let go.

Believe it or not, there are quite a few Gator fans not altogether happy with Foley. They feel he's been really slow to make improvements to the facilities for the big three sports. UF just built an indoor practice facility for football, one of the last in the conference to do so. The Swamp has had only minor cosmetic improvements, and is far behind other football stadiums in the conference like Tiger Stadium, Neyland Stadium, BDS, Kyle Field, and Arky's RRS in terms of premium seating. Their baseball stadium is terrible. No shade, no premium seating, and the only way to provide shade would be to flip the field, which Foley has ruled out on grounds of cost. The O'Dome is getting a nice makeover, but it will be one of the smallest basketball arenas in the SEC when done, at 10,500. The grass, it's always greener.

i'd take all of that and the winning they've done under him.

alleva's job is to make money for the athletic department. having an empty pmac next year doesn't accomplish that.

Yes, F King is a huge problem. It is a shame LSU is stuck with both King and Alleva.

No doubt he's missed on some, but I think he's batting well over .500. They have won so many SEC all-sports trophies that it's hardly even reported any more when they do. In fact, I'm not even sure they award one any more because of how Florida has dominated it for so long.

And, his hits have been pretty amazing. Donovan and Meyer paid off big time, and although it's early yet, the initial indications are good for the current football and mens hoops coaches. The only truly horrible choice was Muschamp, but even he was considered a reasonable choice at the time. Seems like they had a problem in baseball for a while, too, so maybe that would be another miss, but they seem to be well on track now.

Both King and Aleva can be scientifically classified as complete invertebrates.

Don't overthink this or give too much credit to Alleva. It's not that complicated.

Nobody here is giving any credit to Aleva.

Giving JJ one more year is the Alleva equivalent of a Hail Mary. If (or when) Johnny tanks it's yet another feather in Alleva's failure cap. Alleva is hoping for a JJ miracle to save his own arse.
