how do you know? because he has emotion?

he may very well be a good coach. however, at this point and time, is there anything pointing to him being a great coach? is it just a perception/opinion of people? what exactly has he accomplished on his own?

Prove it.

Oh, wait. He doesn't have any head coaching experience.

I think it's a questionable hire, and I'm a realist. He has a great resume, but I just don't get a great feel for him in a HC role.

I would think most LSU fans would not like this hire if it were them. You're taking a pretty big risk hiring a coach with no HC experience when you're a name brand school like Florida. Texas has been his first stint as the 'legit' DC, and their defense has been a little better than average, and his personality and demeanor does not resemble that of a HC. He may end up doing well, but I still consider it a risky hire for a name brand university.

Florida is a job where they could probably hire anyone.

yet, they go for Muschamp. An unproved coach with no head coaching experience.

Middle of the road hire. They better hope it doesn't turn out like the last time that happened.

That's the way I feel about the hire too. As a LSU fan, I am very "comfortable" with this hire.

First of all, you could make the same argument in support of the opposite point. In other words, I could ask you to prove that he won't be a good head coach, and you wouldn't be able to do so.

Second, my original post stated that he is a good coach, not a good "head coach." In support of that contention, I would point to the success he has had as a DC at numerous powerhouse programs. His defenses have been ranked in the Top 10 nationally at every school where he has coached. Rather than reciting the statistics, I'll just direct you to his Wiki profile, which summarizes them:

Finally, I do find it humorous that many fans here simply assume that Miles will be able to dominate Muschamp's Florida squads. Seems like a bit of premature internet ejaculation.

As is the assumption that Florida under Muschamp will remain the 1,000 lb gorilla.

No kidding. How deflating. I know all head coaches start as an asst somewhere, but for all of the bells and whistles we hear about "Florida" for them to get an assistant off a crap team, wow,

No reason to think he will be or wont be.

He's an unknown quantity in this capacity.

I'm sure some people are sold on him because he jumps up and down a lot and yells. That's a huge qualifier for many people on here. Doesnt mean much more than an animated show for the fans in the long run. "Look, I'm intense and i may or may not be saying the right things, but Im saying those things loudly!!!!"

time will tell like everything else.

Really thought Florida would hire a bigger name with HC experience.
