but it's not for life anymore. I'll give him this year as a mulligan and remain positive about next year, but if it in any way resembles this year, his arse should be shite-canned.

+1

He has got to realize he messed up and lost the team in the process. Move on, make the necessary changes, and let's right the ship.

I'm a big Les Miles fan, but if we go 7-6 next year (and I'm pretty sure that's how the '08 season will end), the only acceptable reason will be season-ending injuries to 90% of our starters. I'm thinking we go 8-4 or 9-3 in '09 and come back to contend for an SEC West title in 2010. I think the hot seat for Miles needs to be stoked a little earlier than for some other coaches for the following reasons:

• No reason for our program to fall so far so fast; we ain't Miss. St or Vandy
• Miles' salary: for $4 mil a year you expect a helluva lot more than back-to-back mediocre seasons

Miles has my support, but obviously we need to see pretty visible evidence of change in the offseason. Then (for me) a minimum 8-4 finish next year with visible improvement on both sides of the ball—coaching, execution, the whole thing. We'll see.

How can you still be a Miles Maniac when the man will absolutely not admit that he and his staff have any responsibility in the pathetic product they have put on the field.

Until he fires some defensive coachs and restores discipline to the team, I have no faith in him. Without serious major changes recruiting will be affected.

There better be a lot of improvement, and I think 8-4 is the absolute worst he can do and not get fired. Though, with Bama and Ole Miss being good now and going to Georgia, the road schedule is not going to be easy.

I agree I still am behind Miles and he gets a mulligan this year but next year better be a good season.

As for everyone asking why Miles doesn't come out and press conferences and blast the dc's I ask you this, would you like it if your boss came out and told everyone else at work that you screwed up or would you rather them be quiet and handle it behind closed doors?

no one forces you to buy those tickets or donate. I would have less respect for Miles if he came out in press conferences blasting his employees

Yep. Plus, in my opinion, we're still gonna have teething problems at QB, you'll see ups and downs from both Jefferson and Lee in '09. I certainly hope our defense is better, but we have a long way to go before re-emerging as the #1 or 2 D in the SEC. Hell, if our defense ranked in the top 5 of the SEC in '09 I'd call that major, major improvement over this year. I called an 8-4 or 9-3 season this year, and as it turns out, that was an OPTIMISTIC assessment. Anyway, I'm sticking with 8-4/9-3 in '09.

I don't know why the team seemed to quit this year- if they don't want to play for Miles, then here we are again, another Dinardo situation. I hope to hell, it is just frustration with Malveto & their schemes, as otherwise next year could be worse. I have calmed down since yesterday, & will go ahead & say I trust Miles knows what to do, but instead of blasting his coaches in public, he is going to do what is necesssary behind closed doors. If he is stupid enough not to do anything, then he is gone after next year...book it. LSU football is too big & too much of a cash cow to let someone tear it down in 2 years.
