How the hell does a team not even take a flier on him in the late rounds? Especially now as a senior when he has absolutely no leverage.

THERE is so much irony in that statement.

*sorry, I normally don't pick on grammar, but couldn't resist.

You sound offended. I'm assuming you didn't get drafted either

He probably told all the scouts he wants to get a head start on his career as a kinesiologist.

It's a shame that radar guns are the only thing scouts use in evaluating pitchers. A good pitcher is someone who doesn't give up runs, plain and simple. "Measurables" are why the minor leagues are filled with guys who can't throw strikes.

I mean, that can't be it... Chris Cotton got drafted and in the 14th round no less.

He did last year, both he and Mainieri were shocked he wasn't picked.

If he was pro material, they would take him, imo. Other than that, like discussed, he may have told them he wasn't interested in A ball living on busses and would rather start his next phase of life.

Surprising, but me thinks that no team wants a senior right handed closer with back issues throwing a mid-high 80's fastball.

They don't rely on radar nearly as much as that poster implied, but there is night and day difference between a junk ball righty and a junk ball lefty.

He is a good college pitcher....that's it and that's okay. He's old with only a upper 80s fastball and a good curve. The stuff currently doesn't translate to pro ball and I'm sure most evaluators have determined that he is at his ceiling or close to it

He'll get an invite from someone, at worst an independent team. If he loves baseball he'll probably give it a shot.

If this was truly the case, the late rounds of the MLB would not exist.
