Last year: 5 lost fumbles all season

This year: 6 lost fumbles ALREADY

I knew it would be hard to duplicate what the team did last year in turnover ratio when they were plus 20.

Last year's team cashed in on the great field position the defense gave it...going the short field for many drives and scoring.

Tonight, LSU got the ball inside Towson territory to start a possession 5 times. The results:

Ball at Towson 36: 3 plays, miss a long FG
Ball at Towson 48: 3 plays, Mett runs backwards and fumbles
Ball at Towson 22: (after shanked punt): 6 plays and a MADE FG
Ball at Towson 8: 3 plays, TD

Say what you want about last year's team, QB's, and offense, but they had a knack of scoring when the defense of special teams handed them good field position. This team is struggling in that area. It will come back to bite us very soon if it continues.

Um, I am not sad. I am pointing out facts. The key to our success last year was scoring on the short field. This year, that is not happening.

Bingo! last year we ran the ball. Stopped the run. Didn't turn the ball over AND created turn overs. How many did HB alone cause? Plus we excelled on special teams. All of that covered up for our poor QB play and lack of passing attack, until the NCG.

This year we are struggling to run when it counts, turning the ball over and not creating as many turn overs. Penalties have always been an issue on a Miles coached team.

Mett is also statistically better than lee through the first 5 games with a worse line
