How would you describe Antonio Blakeney's jump shot?

Besides "inaccurate", I mean?

I think he's over-trying right now... if I were coaching him I'd suggest softening them up a bit. Hard to explain, but they look too fast and furious.

Can't wait until he turns the corner... this team would instantly become one of the favorites to take it all.

It looks like he's trying to aim it instead of letting it fly. He needs to get a little arc on it as well. It's coming out hard and flat.

Technique wise he has a nice stroke. It's uncanny that he can miss as many wide open shots as he does. He's obviously just tight and can't let the game come to him and get in a rythmn . Hope he stays another year to figure it out.

I think it looks awesome. He elevates an insane amount and has a good stroke.

Its just not falling. I really hope it starts to because we'll need him.

He took the first jump shot insides the 3 point line that I've ever seen him take and hit it. He needs to come inside the arc or drive sometimes it doesn't always have to be a 3

He's too good not to get out of this slump. I think he does against UF.

I think he elevates too much, especially when he doesn't need to, which might be the reason. It's impossible to keep a consistent stroke when you are elevating that much. When you are elevating that high, it's too easy to get off balance.

This is what I've told many people: There is a difference between bad shooters and shooters who just don't have shots falling. You don't necessarily call it a slump, just he's 'off' currently. That could be because of adjustment to college, figuring out his role in offense, mental issues off the court, many things.

The kid is 19 and never faced adversity on the basketball court. People say youth is not an excuse, but when you're 19 and adjusting to things in life, it's sometimes more difficult to figure things our than when you're 21 or 22.

AB has a gorgeous stroke, and many of his shots are just a little long. When he lets the ball go, you can tell he thinks a lot are going in because they're right on target. He is playing tremendous D and has really turned a corner with his effort.

Also, I don't have any idea if he will come back or not. AB would not be the first player to leave early and should not have left. But it's not like his options are sub-saharan africa or bust. He can go make 40k in the NBDL and get some 10-day contracts and eventually latch on to a roster. I hope for his sake and LSU's sake he doesn't, but it's an option.

All this. I was as interested and excited to watch Blakeney play this year as Simmons. Sucks the kid is in a funk right now, because he has all the tools. It's not like he forgot how to play...eventually (hopefully sooner rather than later) shots will start to fall and he'll play instinctively rather than pressing, which is what it feels like now.

Looks to me like he just playing too fast and rushing everything. He'll find his rhythm.

I see that you drank the cool aid also? No way in hell this guy is even on the NBA scouts 2 rounds of draft. Right now he is non existant. You can only live off your high school resume for a short time. His time is up. It's time to shine and he is horrible right now.

Not needed...If not open, don't shoot. Don't need to elevate 30+ inches every time, it just takes too much energy to be consistant like he needs to be, and esp. when he's out 20' from the basket late in the game...Sure he can hit it, but legs get tired. Needs a compact, reproducible shot IMO. Guy needs to do that in the lane, and really shouldn't shoot outside the paint, unless clock is running out, and has too IMO. He can run the court, defend (which has gotten better), and crash the boards for rebounds, but his jump shots from 3 point range should be limited, as it doesn't help, and usually leads to a fast break for the other team...

He's gonna find his stroke. Good shooters always do. There is no reason he's been so off this year other then he's just in a slump. I have confidence he'll find it and when he does look out.

the frustrating thing is that, even though the team struggled defensively and lost some games they should have won, had AB's shot been falling, we probably have 3 fewer losses
