If my teams on offense I'd do a lot of what 7thWard said. You can't run side to side on a defense as fast as LSU's. I'd motion the slot guys to try and make the LBs clear out of one side and run right at them with a FB leading the way. The best way to beat a team with as much speed as LSU is to run right at them. That takes speed virtually out of the equation. For example, if I'm going to run an ISO to the left I'd get in the "I" with a three wide set, with my Z receiver on the left and the X and Y receiver to the right. I'd motion the slot or Y receiver to the left so the LB would have to cover him. I'd get the LT to simply turn his butt to the hole and push that end outward. The guard and center would have to double up on the DT, or one of them chip block and get to the next level. And the FB meet whoever he see's first in the hole. It's not going to be pretty, and not many long yardage plays, but that is an effective gameplan against this defense. Passing, you can't try to throw the long ball, WAY too much speed on the outside. Run mesh routes with the slot receivers, 10 yard drags, those types of things. And a lot of posts/in routes with the outside. And maybe the tight end runs a flag route.

On defense, I'd throw a lot of package blitzes at Mettenberger. He's been known to have a gunslinger type of mentality so, if you get pressure on him, he might throw a few up for grabs. The offense is usually 70/30 Run/Pass, so secondary needs to stay home because this is the type of offense that'll throw in a play action for a deep gain two or three times a game. Fill gaps on the run plays. RBs don't have a lot of top end speed except for Michael Ford. They will not beat you in a foot race, tackle well.

I would send a bunch of bimbos with a stomach flu virus to hang out with the players in the week leading up to the game.

I think you try to throw on the new corner. Remember this many of our scores were inflated last year because we benefited from plus 20 in the turnover ratio, that's madness and will not happen with Loston I jury prone and the badger gone. Lsu can be beat. Short quick passes, I would run hook and latters, wr passes, statue of liberty shite thy havent seen and aren't prepared for, I would throw the kitchen sink at them and if it's close in the 4 th you got a chance because miles is good for a couple of mental mistakes.

I thought Bama had a good approach: give yourself two chances to win one game.

Offensively, I line up in I formations on early downs, double team the three technique and nose tackle, and hammer it inside with the full back leading on the ISO, as well as some counters, traps, and G leads. I'd neutralize the pass rush with some quick screens and keeping either a TE in to block or throw from a 2 back set, with my best back checking outside pressure to flare out for quick dump passes. My WR's would run option routes on the outside(slant, fade, comeback) and take what the cb gives them. Slot WR's would use motions to get linebackers/nickles out of position on crossing routes. I would use the shite out of mesh routes as well as motioning from a 2x2 to 3x1 formations and running switch routes and wheel routes against the young secondary.

Defensively, iM bouncing everything outside by telling my inside lineman to fall when double teamed and to cram the blockers back on any base blocking of zone blocking. Linebackers are to force everything east/west and my safeties will have to make tackles and corners will have to crack replace. My boundary corner is gonna press 85% of the time, I'm gonna attempt to bracket the slot WR on obvious passing downs, and my field corner will basically be on an island the entire game because quite frankly, LSU receivers don't scare me. I'm gonna throw a lot of different looks and pressures at Zach to try to confuse him. Secondary and linebackers are gonna have to read their keys and not fall for the play action.

Damn, 7th, I already liked you from the OT board. Color me impressed.

Train 44 gorillas to play football... One string of gorillas simply wouldn't be enough

I would get on tigerdroppings and find out LSU's weaknesses.

I would bring in Jordan Jefferson to show me how to stop the vaunted option of LSU.

I would sew in a picture of Jordan Jefferson to my teams jerseys so they would distract Les.

It didn't work for Bama. What worked for Bama was their awesome defensive front seven plus the great good fortune that we had a high school QB! If we had a QB they would have been skunked, and no one would be saying their offensive game plan worked. I agree, though, it gives a team their best chance.

I think what worked for Bama was the short field every single drive. I think that's the key against LSU this year; score FGs and beat them in a 16-14 type game.

If they can sustain drives, LSU likely isn't being beaten without some luck

It wasn't like the bama offense was just ripping the lsu defense apart. I believe LSU was only trailing 9-0 at half? despite horrible offense. Eventually, the ineptitude of the offense just was too much to overcome, combined with the fact that LSU started going for 4th down on their own end...which essentially led to the final and only bama TD.

You are correct on this:

It will, however, take a bama-like defense to keep LSU from sustaining drives....and I'm not even sure they could do that with an actual passing game.

I honestly believe, that even with JJ, our offense would be better this year. I believe our OL is that much better than last year. So if Mett can live up to half of the LSU fans expectations......this offense will be VERY good.

Hammer the weakside of the defense, lots of inexperience over there. On Defense, get middle penitration/blitz the QB and make him sweat.

I can't tell if you're agreeing with me...since that's basically what I said. You seem to make the same point I did in an argumentative way

I said they had a short field so they could easily get points...you said it was 9-0 at the half

I was agreeing. Just saying 21-0 sounds bad, but it wasn't like the defense was just rolling over. Eventually, the 3 and outs got them...as did the 4th down conversion failures. LSU was still in the game into the 4th quarter technically, I believe down 12-0........but as we continued to watch #9 trot out on the field, we knew it was over. The ultimate conclusion of JJ's shitty career was throwing the ball at the back of the rb, having it intercepted, and then hollering at the rb. A perfect ending for JJ as it summarized his career.

I think LSU fans were blinded a little bit last year until the Georgia game. When LSU played a good D, they didn't have answers. That UGA game is close if Murray doesn't epically fail over and over and Honey Badger doesn't get the team fired up like he did with his PR.

I wonder who's gonna step into that role to keep the team fired up
